Thanks again last nite for giving tips on how to behave as a pillion.

The pillion pal/love handles suck cock and aren't worth the money. THey don't brace against braking or acceleration even though he said most pillions love it.

Instead i chose to give my mate the reach around, resting hands on tank sitting as close as possible to him. He didn't mind in the end and the bike handled like there was no pillion - instead it handled like having ric waller instead at the helm.

As you do, pillion conduct must be established before going on a ride. Blah de blah de blah etc. Except he didn't tell me he intended to do 155 with me on the back on certain stretches. WOW. FOOK me did the windblast nearly knock me off. I only managed to rest my head on his shoulders up to 135mph before i had to tuck behind. We were still accelerating.

Needless to say, that's not the point.

The point is after a ride to donnington, only to realise the ticket office was closed for booking the WSB tickets, and getting a hailstorm on the M42, i arrived in gloucester in good shape to pick this up

https://photos-322.ak.facebook.com/ip002/v64/10/100/500990711/n500990711_30322_5990.jpg

In short, i got it on ebay for 1300 quid and It's a bloody steal. Plastics are OK, but the bike is mint - engine is turbine smooth, powerband hasn't been fully exploited yet (obviously restrictors out), but it's got as much energy as borat raping uksana with the cow watching. FULL service history, micron can, heated grips, FULL panniers - shit i was gonna get some too - oxford sports.

I must confess i was scared when i got on it, much the same when matt raped the throttle off the lights causing the front wheel to crest, but you get used to it.

Compared to my old ZXR250, this is more like a lardy muscle bike, a tad reluctant to turn, but hell, work at it and it's every bit as rewarding. Tyres were new Dunlop Qualifiers (200 miles old) and it's very grippy even on the mildly moist A46. But one thing i notice is the SPEED! SHIT - keeping it under 100mph is proving difficult as your sensation of speed is completely out of sync. Remember i was used to a 250 with an 18k redline, so at that speed, i'm only doing 90mph in top. With mine - 6k in top gear and you're doing 90. Somehow, i managed to find myself on a runway (read emergency landing strip/ read the A46!) and looked down realising i was doing 140! Oh shit! Shocked Laughing Brakes are razor sharp by comparison and generally everything on the bike is top notch. The roar of the micron can is wicked - all i have to do is either find a baffle for it or polish off the Not for road use- i do have the original can as well.

The guy who i bought it off bought the bike off his dad who had bought it off his mate prior to that and all services were done in gloucester. It's a well cared for bike - lets hope i don't shag it and rape it like my old one.

I don't have the heart to tell my dad, but he did ask if i wanted a new bike, and that i should be sensible about it, and he really shouldn't hear from anybody else, like family friends snitching, cos my grandma is ill. Last thing he'll want to know is that Titot bought himself a silly fast bike! Nevertheless, it's a treat for myself seeing that i aced semester 1 exams and that it's my birthday in 2 weeks.

I leave you with my lady in red -

Enjoy

Titz

Glad you like it.

There are some things that can be done to help speed up the handling, like dropping the front down a bit.

Yeh, it did feel a bit skittish. You have to force it to turn and once there, it's fine. There's like a particular point that you get past and it's fine, handlingwise.

But God, does it sound roarty. I didn't redline it, cos i don't see the need, but the rush in the first 4 gears is phenominal! I'm happy with it and for 1300, people were skeptical, but I'm happy as. Engine is sweet like a peach and flexible. No noises, just a whirr saying "please mister, can i have some more" but the noise from the exaust is retorting "No boy, don't make me bitchslap you - in the tone of the ominous headmaster with the cane".

How can i polish off the Not for Road Use symbol? I've got 120grit -400 grit wet and dry, would that be sufficient if i go at it manually, or would i need a grinding stone?

Looks nice. Look after it and you'll not lose too much money when you sell it on.

Gordy

PS, I'd do an oil and filter change NOW, keep a record of it and keep up with the servicing.

Only serviced 3 months ago when it was MOT'd. It's got full service history from 1997, so it's due a filter change til june.

Whack a dremel in an electric drill and have at it for a few minutes. Worked a charm on my Micron when I had the SV.

Nice bike. Thumbs Up

The colour is more of a wine red/antique burgundy as opposed to the virgin red seen here. Anybody remember Riichy's ZXR400? Similar colour to that almost!

I think the guys on another forum took this thread a bit more to heart lol Laughing and started err ripping on me, especially regarding the nature i sold my old bike - i came clean about what needed doing, but they were saying blah de blah i was trying to flog a lemon - but hey, you lie to get interest and then come clean, karma works either way. I guess they're all pretty old and can't understand what a 19 year old is doing on a ninja. People do it all the time Wink

I've finally got around to getting the exhaust polished. I've polished the RACE USE ONLY marking off and will fit a DB killer onto it sometime soon. I really don't fancy the original exhaust because it's heavy mild steel.

I'm looking at subtle mods for the bike - double bubble for the motorway journeys, it already has heated grips. R&G crash mushrooms so that i'll try not to destroy the paintwork.

Well i'm gonna park it at uni and make a scene out of it all, so i'll definately get noticed now. Housemates loved the bike - big improvement over my old bike.

OH OFF TOPIC - But surely i should get my personalised screen name now - i mean, look at my avatar?
