A friend told me that if you commit any offence on a CBT you get banned instantly. Is that true?

No, I do not believe you will be banned instantly. If you get over 6 points then you will be. If you've been caught speeding, you just got ot look forward to stupidly high insurance for a few more years Smile

I doubt that's true. You'll quite often find people doing their CBT commiting offences, speeding or dangerous riding. But that's because they're just learning to ride. Can't really expect everyone to be able to follow the law during the CBT. They eitehr don't know it or just use full throttle and then panick.

I know when I took my CBT there was sometimes when I was over the limit and didn't notice. I was just told over the earpiece to slow down to 30/40. And I would doubt if a copper pulled you over when there's a riding instructor behind you.

Unless you decide to steal the bike and plan to get away?

Urban myth mate!

While you are out with your instructor you can still get done for things but so will he as you are under his jurisdiction. Thats why he has to pass an instructors exam.

It is a ban, on the spot. They will also call a surgeon who will cut your bollocks off and a chief who will cook them and make you and your instructor eat one each. Mr. Green

Well, that is all good to know, but i dont mean when doing the actual CBT course, i mean on a CBT certificate. Is it still not true that you get banned? Because to be honest, i speed all the time, the sort of 32-33 through a 30 zone kind of thing, sometimes 40 when i dont notice.

No, as a learner you have 12 points before you get a ban. Pass your test and reach 6 or more points within 2 years and you get your licence revoked (not a ban), but the 6 point limit does not apply to learners.

All the best

Keith

I think sandino means by CBT, is riding on his bike but he's only got a Provisional license. Not actually getting caught speeding whilst doing his CBT test.

During my CBT, my instructor actually encouraged me to speed. Laughing My original moped was taken back to the centre when I went over a nail, and they gave me the only other one they had - a modified, souped up one which was capable of 60, or so they told me. It was certainly derestricted anyway, and was bored out to a 70. So they sent me out on this and we enter a 40. I'm trying desperately to keep to 30 miles an hour, knowing I'm legally not allowed to go faster than this, and the instructor pipes up with 'Come on, give it the beans!' Laughing He was riding a Super Blackbird, so I can't really blame him.

That was probably a Tiger? One of my A2 instructors rode that.

Looking on Triumph's website i think it must be, although it had a full fairing and panniers.
