so looking dont a r1 front end go on just have to get a yoke converter thing?? (where from?) and the calipers and disks and whel of a fazer will fit onto a r1 setup?

other big question are the fairings the same on a fazer 6 and thou?

I'm not aware that a 'yoke converter' exists.

You'd have to get custom Yokes. And even then you can't guarantee the forks will be the right length. The thing about it is, unless you know exactly what you are doing you'd be best off with fazer thou forks. A Fazer thou will be heavier than an R1, therefore the springs will be different. I'm not certain the wheels and brakes will be the same either, which will open a huge can of worms if the spindle isn't the same. It is likely not to be the same as the fazer thou forks are RWU and the R1 forks are USD. This also means the yoke offset will be wrong as the top diameter of the R1 forks will be much greater than that of a fazer. Sounds like a whole can 'o worms to me.

If you want a fazer thou, buy a fazer thou. If you want an R1, buy an R1.

The fairing from a pointy 600 Fazer is the same as the fazer thou. The conversions for the square headlight fazer to fazer thou fairing were very popular.

I'd also be very suspicious of any bike that has had a front end smash, as the frame could be bent and all sorts. Usually damaged repairables are described as being better than they are. (I know this from experience!)

Also have you looked at insurance? The Fazer Thou isn't cheap to insure. When it first came out it was in the same group as the R1. I'm pretty sure its been downgraded a little, but its still quite high...

Lets get this straight. You are currently riding a NS125, now you are looking at a Fazer thou.

Nice knowing ya. Thumbs Up

https://www.yamahafz1oa.com/forum/ try these guys, I'm sure a few of them have already done it.

You can get top yoke converter from most streetfighter parts retailers. *Edit* What I was thinking of might not fit R1 USD forks, so a new top yoke will probably be needed.

I don't think the fairing is the same on the FZ6 and FZ1, have a look on www.bikepics.com to see if there the same.

He doesn't mean the FZ6 and the FZ1.. he means the old steel framed Fazers I think... especially as the bike is a 2005.

Well according to RiDE mag from a year or two back, Fazer thou fairings fit directly onto the square headlight Fazer 600 models without modification.

The facelift FZS Fazer 600 (the one before the ally framed R6 engined FZ6 Fazer was brought out) definately looks like its got the same fairing as the steel framed fazer thou.
