I'm having a grass is greener moment , currently I seem to be moving from bad company to bad company
in terms of work not riding groups or anything, I'm just wondering are there any decent places to work any
more? , that are not totalitarian states with little bullying Hitlers who decided to take their vengence upon
their staff.

Last work place was this git who I spoke to stink about , taking deliveries in the AM hours , which I thought
was very unreasonable,

Currently the day job , involves lots of bullying by bosses (ironic since they are the ones we complain to)
nothing directed to me me since I reveal nothing and show no dead angles, I'm getting tired of seeing work
collegues in tears now and again, I wear a poker face all the time and do not give any dead angles for bosses
to work on.

I'm nearing my 12 month mark and started putting out CVs to other companies , as this place isn't working
for me or the 4 staff who walked out on Friday.

Or is this just the lot of the British worker ie almost but not quite how Siggi tells it?, I've been in some decent
very small businesses before but it seems to be rut after rut after rut.

Just a bad patch and me being unlucky or an industry wide problem (accountancy)

Any thoughts?.

Ta

What do you expect out of your job?

Ever since I left my old job I've found the new one more difficult in terms of hours, stress, emotions and illness but I get more out of it because I want to help people that actually need my help, whereas my old job seemed like a waste of time helping customers that are never pleased!

So what do you want out of your next job?

Yes there are - had you considered trying to look for jobs by talking to people you know, so you get more of an idea about the company. Also consider is contracting if you’re not now; should get paid a fair bit more, which hopefully should make up for the hassle if it’s a bad company, you also aren’t so tied into a company and a lot of companies will offer a permanent position at some point if they think you’re suitable.
I actually got the IT job I’m in at the moment through an Ad in the jobcentre, but while not everyone’s great in the company, the balance of people are; it’s also 1.4 miles from my place, which is convenient and worth extra to me.

Yes, but they are few and far between. You have to put up with a whole pile of shit before you get somewhere decent and even then you can have it taken away from you at any minute until you see the light and work towards being your own boss.

Chill out, it's only work and you only do it for the money. Go in, do the job, take the wedge, go home and forget about work til you clock in the next time. If it's too stressful then move on, you owe them nothing. Hell, even a McJob will do as long as it pays the bills.

Work to live, don't live to work!

I enjoy my job, and I enjoy the environment and the people I work with.. I work 9 - 5:30, with some (unofficial) flexibility as long as you don't take the piss. the focus is on getting the job done, rather on doing hours, so I DO sometimes find myself working late, or coming in early, but that's the nature of the beast.. I get paid resonably well f or what I do, and there are perks with the job, such as travel and health insurance, dental plan, contributory pension and bonus scheme.

so yes.. there ARE good places out there, who don't scrape that pound of flesh out of you, and respect you for who you are and what you can do to contribute.

Yes there are good places to work. I can emphasise with you Itchy, but you will find the perfect job for you (hopefully soon).

I work for a German company (yes, they are an odd bunch but also very amusing) and the actual job isn't that amazing. I process orders, speak to customers, problem solve etc. I enjoy it so much because I'm fortunate enough to be working with fantastic people who I genuinely enjoy being around and having a laugh with. And like G, my commute isn't much and that makes a lot of difference.

I do believe that luck has a lot to do with it. There was a lot of luck involved in me getting the job I have now and I'm very grateful for it.

Best of luck, I really hope you find what you're looking for.

There are definatly some good jobs out there.
I'm currently working for an outdoor activities, and team building company, so if i'm not quad biking, buggy racing, paintballing, doing archery, clay pigeon shoot. i'm either off roading 6x6'ing, fixing stuff or standing round getting paid(management) Thumbs Up

pay is excellent too.

Just got to look hard enough
