Average Bike Mileage (preferably Hornets)

Yes we all know Honda cars are stupidly reliable and the benchmark for car mileage is around 100k miles.

What is considered 'high mileage' for a motorbike, do they run nicely to 100k miles or do they only last around 50k?

Obviously with servicing it could last ages, but what is average for a bike?

Most bikes will easily do well over 100K as long as they're serviced and maintained regularly. Even Hondas.
Problem is, most people have a bike as a toy and do not many miles on them, perhaps 3K a year, hence most bikes for sale have not many miles on them. As a consequence, anything with say 30K on the clock is considered high mileage. Still got years of life in it though!

as said depends on the engine care and maintenance, I'm pushing 63K on my Honda,

Couriers around here go round the clock every month or so but couriers like Sickpup rebuild the engines every now and again, and thus effectively reset the miles to 0.

Oh, I was wondering why people are selling bikes with 1 or 2k miles on them. I thought they just got scared and decided to sell them.

Good to know that they can do up to 100k :O I thought it might of been less due to the amount of revs they can do and stress on the engine

BMW man has a GS1150 , er BMW obviously but hes never got time to use it hence it just got an MOT , but has less than 2 K on it (3 year old bike),

but then bikes of weekend warriors probably have less wear on them , but as a juxtor point have less regular maintenance on them , as they haven't done the miles which is perceived to cause the wear,

but then again being stood for ages or not used often can also cause wear!

R1150GS's are not even properly run in untill about 40k thatswhen most stop using oil. I am on about 12k / year with mine and it runs sweet as a nut. They are (or should be) easily capable of 100k+ miles as well.

About the car thing, I certainly wouldn't consider a 100k car high mileage. If treated well, it's no further through its life than someone in their 40's. Our old 306 has over 170k on the clock and is strong as anything. I only ever have to put maybe 100-200ml oil in it every 3000 miles or so, and that's on old cheapy French-mobile.
