I find some cars which have different displacement in their names from actual ones. For example Merc Benz C230 is 2496cc, C280 is 2996cc. Are they hiding real displacement to the drivers behind them? Very comfusing.
By the way, most bikes have rounded-up size in their name. ZZR1400 is 1352cc, XJR1300 is 1250cc. You are ZZR1350 and XJR 1250 aren't you? Confused Bandit 1250 is 1255cc. Bandit1250 has larger engine than XJR1300. Very interesting. How they decide to name their bike name **1250 or **1300 I don't know. But I prefer bandit1250 than XJR1300 in naming sense cause they are not deceiving users. Difference should be at least within 25cc in my opinion (only in case of round up).
Which do you like Name > Actual or Name < Actual? And do you think it possible to name the bike 650 which has 800cc engine? Kawasaki W650 is 675cc. I think they named it 650 according to it's history. In case W650 had 750 or 800cc engine in future, should kawasaki rename it as W750 or W800? or Can they still call it as W650? (Like S2000 with 2156cc engine).
Very random post.

Why does a number in the name of a vehicle have to be related to it's engine size? It's a model number to distinguish it from others, that is all.

Bikes are rounded up to a class that they are designed to fit in.

They dont design the 600 Class around the bikes, they design the bikes to fit into the 600 class.

So imagine the new 2008 Yamaha R6, they aim that for the 600 class straight off, and get as close to that without going very far over - and the closest they can get is what they'll normally stop at. Engine capacity is a very precise thing and to get it bang on 600cc is very very difficult if not impossible.

So the reason they are called 600, CBR600, R6, GSXR600 - isnt because they are lying to you at all, its because thats the class they are aimed at - and its rounded up to 600cc.

We all know you can get the actual capacity by looking in any booklet or asking a salesman... You make it sound like a conspiracy to deceive Laughing
