I wondered if the Preview facility was definitely required when posting a post? I find it very frustrating as other sites don't have this and sometimes I think I have posted a post/thread when I haven't, I've simply clicked Preview.

Could this Preview facility be made optional, or removed?

You only have ot preview your posts until you hit a certain Karma rating, then it is optional.

It was introduced due to a large number of shite posts.

Shouldn't it be obvious why?

It's information that's still useful and relevant to new members. I could have just asked the question without bothering to search and see if it had been asked before, but that's usually considered bad form.

It's now available for anyone else who's joined in the last while and been frustrated with the need to preview their posts before submitting.

But that's why the search function is there. You used it yourself to find the answer.
If every person that searched for a topic made a post to bring it back to the top the forum would be clogged up with ancient 3 year old posts.

So technically it was pointless searching if you were just gonna bump it up to the top again, no?

Don't be daft.

You end up with fewer topics and less repetition.

Would you prefer that I hadn't searched and just asked the question, thus leading to two topics containing the same, or similar, answers?

Anyway, rather than get into a big off-topic discussion, let's just agree that we don't agree on how this is all meant to work...
I presumed that what I was searching for would be relevant to other new members who mightn't think to search for it, so I bumped it to the top. Does it matter how old the information is, as long as it's still relevant?

You really are a newbie aren't you. This is the way it works...

Mr. Everready and you continue to hurl abuse at each other until one of you resorts to a bit of name calling. As soon as the 'C' word is used then it's off to Boxhill for the both of you for a bit of naked wrestling - the one who's left standing wins the argument.

If the match is considered even after a 10 minute bout with both parties remaining upright then a points decision is required. This will be decided by an appointed BCF Moderator who will base his/her decision on who he/she thought was less aroused by the naked tussle.

Hmm - funny, that's not what I expected from this forum at all. You could at least have a few more Harleys with handlebar tassels around the place to act as a warning...

Anyway, not too scary so far - offroad forums are a lot rougher, and I've survived them Cool

You have the wrong idea about this place. Handlebar moustaches and novelty German helmets were banned the last time G got into a flamewar with Siggi over who could lap the Nurburgring quickest on a Fatboy (that's a Harley, by the way, not Jamie Stokes).
