Well basically ive been putting off getting leathers for far too long (say 4 years ) and i figure now might be a good time to look into it.
However whilst my height (6'4) and inside leg (annoyingly 33 inch) has stayed the same, the beer gut changes.
I was 15 stone before uni, ballooned to 17, got down to 14.5 and now im back to about 15.5
Depending on how much boxing training/drinking/pie guzzling i do.
The question is, is their actually much point getting leathers if im just going to expand out of them, or lost weight and have them flapping about?
Can i just buy leather trousers and ignore the whole 2 piece/1 piece shenanigans (which will be a nightmare) as i still have /A/ leather jacket (a considerably battered revvit one thats been down a few times) do you think
Im hoping my weight will settle down into a good routine eventually, but as it stands im always either gaining or losing. It never stays at equilibrium lol.
Second point, can you ducktape your jacket down and get onto a trackday? As thats the main reason i want a set of leathers. And being my height and girth (about 34) they arent exactly thick on the ground (on ebay etc). ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

You may be better off going or a pair of salopettes(sp?). If your weight tends to yo-yo, then this shouldn't affect them as much as leather trousers.
I couldn't tell you what the regs would be on a track for these though - I think the minimum is leathers that will zip together. ____________________ Dead nobodies in company cars... |

Out of curiousity, how expandable are leathers?
I mean i looked into it a while ago, wearing a set strag had bought (i think they were his) and whilst i did fit into it it was gently trying to drag my neck into my rectum, and i couldnt hang off comfortably.
and on ebay you get gems like this porker;
| Quote: | hi for sale one piece leathers, only worn once for around one hour ,i paid 230 pounds plus 30 delivery i am 5 foot 8 and 19 stone they fit me but are to long in the leg i was going to cut them off but it would be a shame to wreck a nice suit ,my son is 6 foot 2 and 17 stone and they fit him tidy, any way the suit has full armour sliders and speed hump that cost extra 30 pounds grab a cheap suit no reserve thanks for looking ,please look at my other items cheers

Stating it still 'fits' his son. See no one has ever explained the dynamics of good fitting leathers to me. Ive just been trying to find people my height and build roughly to buy off of.
How much wiggle room is there? ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

Leathers mould to the shape of the wearer so they might well be uncofortable when you first but them but they'll stretch into your shape. I bought my current ones 2 years back and I've put on a stone since but I still wear them every day - over my work clothes. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

But what about height?
Like i say these ones of strags really felt like they were ripping my head off.
I dont want to get one off ebay and get something that really hurts. ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

I'm in a similar boat to you - used to do shed loads of exercise and at 6 foot weighed in at a measley 70kg (around 10/11 stone).
Now my body is blighted by laziness, beer and pies and has shot up to 100kg (around 15/16 stone).
I'm getting back into exercise a bit more and am hoping to drop down to 80-90kg.
I quite fancy a 1-piece suit as it (hopefully) won't exert so much pressure on my big lardy belly like my 2-piece does.
How are 1-pieces sized? Is it chest size?
(ps if anyone wants my old HG 'Hard Edge' 2 piece in blue/silver for cheap, then please pm me. Jacket is UK40, trousers are UK34) ____________________ Space Monkey #7
