After you passed your test i mean.

And did you have it restricted. I have just got my 125 so am now looking to start on lessons as soon as i turn 17. I will then be looking for the next bike up so was wondering what you lot started on?

First big bike was a VFR400 NC30, didn't restrict it to 33bhp though, i just hoped for the best and behaved myself.

Mind you of all the years on a bike I've never been pulled over, even after i flew past a parked copper at 110Mph Shocked

Passed my test on Friday and I will be riding a hornet 600! But it will be restricted Crying or Very sad I'll probably end up de-restricting it after I get some experience on it.

KLR650, did DAS so no restriction.

May have ridden a while before I passed my test though Whistle.

Good bike for what it is - good 'do anything' bike, though never ventured off road; sure it would do it, but there are much more suited bikes.

Passed 5 months ago and currently got a CB750F2, not restricted as an old git as well!

Starting to think about changing it now though/getting something else as well, as getting a bit bored of it - will wait till I move house and get a garage though.

A heavily tuned RD350 YPVS. Not restricted because I didn't have to.

Scared the living crap out of me every time I rode it. FAR too fast for someone who'd just passed their test. Not necessarily in terms of top speed, just overall warp-speed effect, oh, and the wheelies. Mustn't forget the wheelies, not that it would let you forget the wheelies even if you tried really hard to not do any.

Cheers. I quite like the look of maybe a fazer or a bandit. Maybe an SV.

Did any of you have these soon after the test and what where they like to get insured?

i got and still have a naked fazer (FZ6) 600, got it a week after i passed my DAS, i found it abit quick and heavy when i first got it but now i love it! (i even think it's starting to feel a bit slow!!!)

It cost me an extra £116 pounds from my CG to insure but i'm 27 so that may have helped a bit. i think the insurance for 1 year will be about £250 TPFT with a years no claims and garaged

Thundercat 600 at full power, had my licence for a while on a gz 125 and my restriction is nearly up.

out of the fazer bandit and sv id go for .. the fazer, altho the bandit looks better in my eye, never ridden a sv i cant say much, common bike, really, would never buy any sv apart from the thou.

Steve.

Looking around the SV appears to be the cheapest to insure and i cant even get a quote on the fazer. nowhere is interested.

Over here, bikes are supposed to be restricted to 33bhp for learners, and for 2 years after passing the test. There's no Direct Access option, or way around it....

..so I did my test on an unrestricted Hornet 600, which I've driven since Very Happy

Had no bike for 6 weeks after that, then went and got a K1 GSXR 600... Thumbs Up
