bit of a wierd GP question

just watching qualifying here, and as i see olivier jaque, and hopkins looking unsteady on it, how much are you talking for a GP fairing? i know they are carbon fiber, but how much like? £5-10k?

I heard on radio 1 news yesterday that a season in motoGP costs upwards of £2 million without any crashes or unexpected shit.

I'd expect fairings to be around £1k, I may well be wrong though.

I'd imagine it'd be higher than that. A side fairing for my ZX6R is over £300, so over a grand for all the plastics. I know retail prices for fairings are ott but I'd hate to think what it would cost if it was carbon.

These aren't really commercial fairings though. They almost certainly have a place that knocks them out specially for them. And they probably either buy in such bulk they're cheap, or they make them in house.

Or the place may sell that at a knock down rate in order to sell them to the public with the "we make the motoGP fairings" etc.

I suspect the reason sports bike fairings are so expensive is because they're in high demand. People break them, and they want new ones. So they can pretty much charge what they like.

Thousands, nothing on a Motogp bike is cheap, most likely pre-peg carbon too.

£2 million for a Motogp bike seems cheap - I don't think you can just name a price on one. They constantly change throughout the season, race by race - the development, which is the real cost of these machines, goes into the tens of millions.

Check out the Illmore for example - they're not exactly short of cash, but relatively, in the field of Motogp, they're no where. It's a shame.
