I always ride solo and have nouse for an intercom but would like to hook up my GPS and an MP3 player to a gizmo that would allow the GPS to override the player's sound. It would be good if the gizmo could also amplify the sound when needed. Prfereably as cheap as possible.
Any ideas?

I got one of these little gizmo off ebay and it works ok,

iTech Bluetooth Media Player Headset

you can plug it inline with your ipod and the bluetooth GPS will interupt it.

Sounds like an Autocom..

Mine has inputs for phone, GPS and Audio... the music is cut when the phone or GPS cuts in.. and it's muted slightly when talking to my pillion or other bikes over the radio.
