Right, I have been chatting with my dad and we have decided we are going to go to the Royal Welsh Show again this year ( it will be our second time going there ) Now then bikes , right we currently have a 250 yammy so we need a diffirernt bike to get there ( between 400 and 1000 cc) not got much money few hundred quid maybe 400 at the max , what bike would be good for us ( 2 up dont for get) we want a big bike with lots off room so to say, also luggage ''space'' ect for tent clothes all the usual stuff. also should we do the ride down in one long ride or stop off at places and make a week of it ? its about a 4 hour drive from here in a car.
also we will be competing in athletics in Brecon some time in the year so we might go down again on the bike then. also on the theme of The Royal Welsh Show do many of you go down on bikes there and do what we are doing ? if so how do you do it ?
cheers
jamie

The 250cc Yamaha will do the trip with ease if it is in good mechanical condition. I would not bother getting a bigger bike. On tarmac roads, you can pretty much tour with anything. I would save the cash and use a bike that you know works and how to fix it if it should go wrong. Also, if it takes 4 hours in car then it should take the same or less time on a bike. It is not like a bike is a push bike...

I would not even think about... it is a 4 hour trip in the UK, not a RTW trip so not if anything can go wrong. Just do it.

Been having a look around and we may look at getting a cb750
if not a cb550 ,honda ftw ! Laughing

me and my dad went out on one for 30 mins to day and it was ace ( only borrowed tho ) my dad said its much easier to pull away from junctions ect, as it has just that bit more extra power.

so has any one had the above ?

are they reliable ?

are parts easy to find?

any one want to sell one of the above or simular ?

and what sort of price could we get a good (ish) one for ?

cheers

The Royal Welsh Agricultural or the Welsh International Motorcycle Show?

Either way, same show ground.

1.5 hrs on average - 2 hrs in my van - on a bike... little over an hour. Depends on the time of day too
