Tonight i got pulled over for speeding (first time in almost two years). Now i know i cannot condone speeding in any way shape or form but here goes! Rolling Eyes

I was coming back from a friends house after a bab and some pool, as you do and i had a pretty calm ride, didnt go above 40 even on 50 roads, just enjoying the ride home when i was being tailgated by some stupid car. I overtook the car in front of me and proceeded to turn right onto a 40, doing about 35 down there again just because i was in no rush.
Halfway down the road a car come up behind me doing about 45, so i thought right get past this corner and it turns into a 60 road and one of my favourite streches and ill give it the beans to show this tosser not to tailgate me.
Got round the corner and i was off, up to about 93 and this car was coming up quick behind me i thought fook this guys got it in for me! Evil or Very Mad

Then entering my little village which naturally a 30 theres two corners i went through them at about 40 and still i could see headlights so i was just about to open up the throttle and on come the blue lights.

Shocked I'm fucked.

pulled over as soon as i saw them got off the bike helmet off gloves off, license out... alright mate, can i check your license gave it to him, everything checked out, really nice bloke to be honest. He said look, im not going to do anything as its late at night, just try and slow down, i know its tempting on a 750 but just cool it a bit.

Theres me standing there expecting a straight "right your nicked give me your bike. Confused

Anyway moral of the story... always double check before you give it the beans and if all else fails, pray for a decent bloke to pull you over. Think ive learnt my lesson. Karma

Oh and no mention of the bike having to be restricted and there are some decent coppers out there (thank god!)

Sounds like you got a bit lucky mate.

Bet you're a lot more careful about checking what's behind you now though.

A kitten? Thats wrong on so many levels, for one id have to clean my bike afterwards!

If only i wasnt restricted... i would have been gone and there was a nice little lane i could have escaped down. Ah i live to speed another day. Karma

Hmmm! a case very similar near where I live. Bloke in a car late at night been followed VERY close behined by a pair of headlights, that were driving more or less in the middle of the road, he freaks a little and puts his foot down to get home (75ish on a 60 road). On arriving at home pulls onto his drive and the car stops outside, a police car! your nicked came the statment from the officer.

In court the bloke said he was scared by the car driving so close and wanted to get home. He ended up with a small fine and NO points because the police car failed to identify itself and the incar police video showed the police car driving down the middle of the road.

Seems sometimes when they follow they cause a reaction from other cars/bikes to accelerate away, thus actually causing the offence to occur nobody likes to be followed up close at night.

if I'm traveling at night, and see lights behind me like that, I kind of hover just below the speed limit for said road, that way the worst is they can pull you and check your legit. Wink

If there's a layby or I know the road well I pull in and let them go past, if it's anything other than a copper you can just go past them in a few minutes anyway. As an aside I had a copper in an unmarked car "staring me out" as I sat at the lights the other night on the way home and personally I think he should have been concentrating on the road ahead, well nothing came of it but it was one of those weird moments.

Oh and back on subject, if coppers are intimidating road users then they want booking instead.

Spot on.. thought it was pretty clear. Confused

Yeah i do think he let me off because he was following quite close, also he didnt actually put his lights on for a long time, as soon as he did i pulled over. At least he was a nice guy though no real problems with the way he acted was just a bit miffed at the car following me before. Thumbs Up

i was driving the work's van the other week and plod was around. he was driving way to close so i blipped the brake lights and he's still on my tail! this is in a 60 zone and coming up to a 30. so i dont use my brakes but change gear instead, drop from 5th to 3rd 55 to 40 and feel a bump. swat went and hit me. lol i pull over no damage to the van or me Thumbs Up the front of his volvo is not quite what its ment to look. lol just said to him "quess you wont be driving a cop car for a while" Mr. Green then drove off trying not to piss my pants laughing.

i told work and they will sort out any crap but dont think anything is going to happen. this was a few weeks ago too.

but on the bike when i get followed by the plod i will just ride around all the streets about 5 mph below the limit making sure they are still there. just winds them up cos they cant do you for anything. they normaly get board after 10 mins they just dont have the staminer to play

Why below? Just stick to the speed limit on your speedo and you will be below anyway as most over-read.

Because then the plod gets pissed off and will either pull you over and cant do anything or will overtake. If youre doing the speed limit exactly he would be less inclined to overtake you. Cool

They will not bother overtaking you if your just below as you say they are more likely to pull you over . . . Thats why I cant see the point? If you ride at the speed limit you are not drawing attention to yourself.https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/finglonga/Finglonga%20Inc/ne_nau.gif

Never been pulled or stopped despite filtering past cop cars in traffic and pulling in front of them. I may get more attention than the 'ordinary' biker due to standing out from the crowd.

Just be sensible and they will leave you alone.

Loud cans, small plates and riding like a twat will just give them the hump.
