Did a quick check but couldn't see any threads for this, my apologies if I missed it.

Bike gear was in Lidl's a couple of weeks back, it's coming back to Aldi's this Thursday (22nd).

Link to the Aldi homepage.

Link to the page with the bike offers (near bottom of page).

I actually have a pair of them from the last time they were in and I use them daily for a 40 mile each way commute. Only (very minor) fault with them is that the knee armour doesn't sit squarely over the kneecaps, it sits slightly on the insides of the knees. Other than that they're great, very warm with a removable lining and completely waterproof (and I've worn them in a few downpours).

Cheers for the advice Mal.
I need a replacement pair for the Akito trousers that I've been using for commuting thru the winter.

akito stuff is awful, leaks all over the place after a few k. zips broke and the gloves.......dont get me started.

I can vouch for the textiles, (trousers), better than the python 2's setup and have a bit of leather on the arse to stop you slipping about on he seat in the wet Thumbs Up

What's Aldi's quality like? Is it as good as Lidl? I got the tank bag from Lidl the other week and I am impressed with it.

Last year I got one of the Lidl Intercom things and it was alright except for wind noise. (Riding the bikes close so as not to snap the cable took a bit of concentration, though Laughing )

Lidls have got some stuff aswell (morriston and gorseinon at least).
Boots don't look like they'd last long walking let alone anything else though.
Gloves looked ok had armour around the knuckles and fingers. Good chains, sorta.
Had some other stuff but I was in a rush so didn't get to check it out.

Got a pair of gloves from Lidl for a tenner when learning. CBT day, went to take the gloves off at lunch and the lining came out, then tore when I tried to get it back in place. Sad. The insides are really shredded and I've hardly worn them. I just use them for gardening now. Smile

Nipped down to the bike shop down the road and bought some 40 quid Frank Thomas aquaforce gloves that have lasted me nearly two years and two winters. They've been through the wash a few times and only now have I got a slight issue with them with the stitching going a tiny bit on one finger.

Might pick up the Intercom thing if there are any knocking about.

K.

Tank bag is ok - Altho, my bike either got keyed in the night, or when I took the bag off it left a deep scratch on the tank Evil or Very Mad

Always be careful when taking a tank bag off as it is possible to get a load of road grit under it just by riding along the road. It is unlikely that it was the bag itself which did the scratching.

had a magnetic tank bag on for a few years now and no scratches be carefull when you put it down as the magnets may well pick up the odd metal filings from the floor

One thing to remember, both are german companys so the stuff they sell that has safety implecations must pass the TUV standard which is at least as good as British standards.

IMHO you cant really go wrong!
