I've got a K1 SV650 Curvy,

I hav a haynes manual etc yada yada, its not in there - just needa quick answer and i know a lot of you here have got SV's...

Basically what i want to know is, how big is the reserve, and how long have i got, from the time that little dash light starts blinking, and me stopping at the side of the road?

Also - Is there any indication in the delay of the flashing? I swear sometimes it flashes faster than others - is this just me going mad, or is there more to it? Laughing

Shouldn't this be in your manual?

No it isnt but i have seen a scarey 50 miles to minefrom when the light comes on, this was on a long distance travel of 200miles which i got to an entire tank, on average id say about 25/30 from flash less than 10 when solid.

Method, how on earth could that be construed as redundant? Confused

Average reserve range on a bike is 30 miles I believe. Confused

Yeah i was hoping for about 30 miles, similar to average on other bikes but just wanted to hear it from another owner.

I would hazard a guess that he has a haynes manual,

He read it and found that it was not in there, hence why he is asking!

Dont know exactly for SVs but I always stay around 20 miles (to be safe).

Don't know the exact figures but the manual does state how many litres you have at the different 'stages' of reserve.

Basically when the light's flashing you should fill up when you next see a petrol station, when it's on solid you need to find a petrol station immediately, else you're buggered.

I was referring to the manual one receives with the bike.

From two other Suzuki manuals (neither of which is an SV650):

4 litres left in tank - start of reserve, low fuel light flashes
1.5 litres left in tank - lower reserve, low fuel light stays solid

but I think Suzuki are consistent for full-size machines with this info.

It doesn't speed up the flash rate. Considering the size of a fuel tank, the reserve is nearly a quarter! You could probably eke 40 miles from when it starts flashing to starting pushing, but once it goes solid, I would fill up anywhere that sells petrol ASAP.

Yeah, 20-30 on the reserve flash then 10 on the solid.

As he said, it's nearly a quarter of a tank. Get's annoying though, the light isn't half bright at night, makes me think i've left the indys on!
