hi all

i was planning on getting a drz400sm but the insurance is coming up too high... Evil or Very Mad Crying or Very sad

and the cheapest quote i got was around 600 pounds...
but that is still too expensive for me,and i even told them i would want it to start when im 18(which ait far away), and also with 2 years NCB....
i was hoping to be spending around 400 max, because the bike is fairly expensive iself.

and i have been told that my insurance will only go down much when im 19,

and it seems the only way i can get a bigger bike, is to have an older one...say like a 1998 bandit 600 Confused for 450 pounds insurance!!

but not sure i want an old bike tbh (fussy i know Embarassed )
so was considering in getting a fairly newish dtx 125 for a year, with only 300 pound insurance!!

and then getting a drz400 because i would of saved up a bit more money Smile

so now i just dont know what the best option would be Exclamation Confused Sad

so guys/girls, what would you do..... Question

Arrow keep on searching for cheaper than 600 pounds insurance on a drz400SM Question (if cheaper than that would even be possible)

Arrow get a fairly new yamaha dt 125, and cheap insurance, and just keep it for a year Question

or...
Arrow get an older and cheaper 600,(say like a bandit, etc) for cheaper insurance, around 450 pounds Question

or if any knows of any other bikes that are fairly cheap, cheap insurance group that are any good, fun and reliable for daily use Question Idea

baring in mind im only about 5 foot9, and still have 2 years restriction to go, as i only passed my test in feb

i just really dont know Neutral

thanks for any suggestions Thumbs Up Mr. Green

I'd suggest getting an older bike and/or something with cheaper insurance just to build up your no claims for a year or so... then go for one of the bikes that you'd really prefer.

Consider something like a klr650/600 or dr650/600. XR400 is also worth a look. Seen some good deals on converted supermoto ones.

Buy an older 400 trailie instead. A 125 will be a lot less satisfying (cheap transport, rather than fun biking).
What's wrong with a slightly older bike? They're just as capable, comfortable and reliable as nearly new ones . . .
