just changed the oil on my gsxr400 and it smells like petrol. Just wondered what this could be? the bikes been running rich but its sorted now and just thought it could have been because of that? cheers

Check the float valves in the carb bowls.

ive changed all the o rings but had ridden the bike before replacing them. This means the bike had been running rich before the oil was changed. So the old oil smelled of petrol and i was thinking it could be because of the over fuelling before i changed the o rings. Could this be right or not? cheers

I bet youve not replaced the O-rings around the float valves. Replace them too, and reset the float hieghts.
