Helmet's on planes.

As I am unable to get much info from the agent/websites are motorcycle helmet's allowed on planes, in particular NZ airlines?

If so do they have to be taken as hand luggage or go with the normal baggage etc?

Most likely go in normal baggage, as at least you can pack it well.

Best bet would be to talk to the airline, either by phone or email.

There is no rule about not wearing a hat on a plane as far as I know so put it on and say you are shit scared about the thing hitting the ground at 450 mph ( Show them your gold ACU sticker).

i am off to NZ in October - gonna have mine and my Wifes helmet (gonna be married then, and off to NZ for honeymoon) and i am planning to take it hand luggage - at least you know where it is and whats happened to it.

I dont want to trust my fragile helmet with some dozy twat in London/Singapore/New Zealand who throws bags around willy nilly Mr. Green

I flew back from spain with my lid on my lap. Just carried it in its bag that it came with threw it over my shoulder and walked on.
That was with ryan air.

Things may well have changed since the tightening of security since last year. The scare was centred on hand baggage and what is now allowed is strictly layed down and is only for use on the journey.
You may have to wear your hats.

Try your hardest to get it on as hand baggage mate. I've seen how bags are thrown round airside by handlers and thats definately the last place you want it to be!
