Motorway riding

I did some distance on the motorway the last two days and I found it extremely weird getting used to normal roads for a good 20 minutes after. I was approaching corners far too quickly, braking just felt odd, turning into the corners was strange. I think it could partially been due to the fact my entire body was numb with cold but at times it was quite scary. My vision was also a little blurry too. Anybody else have these problems or is there something wrong with me?

Is it the first time youve covered serious milage on the motorway?
Did you make any stops, if not it sounds like you may have just been extremely tired, and perhaps innapropriately dressed due to the high speed travelling.

You need to watch your speed when you have been on the motorway for a while as 30Mph seems painfully slow and its all to easy to lose a few points.

As for your vision. Shocked

Is your helmet picking allot of turbulence? As that shaking your head around for a few miles will cause that.

I've done long distance on motorways before and I was well dressed for the occasion. Two pairs of trousers (one being draggin jeans), jumper, t-shirt, leather, thermal gloves. I didn't make any stops, I'm hardcore. It was bloody windy out there aswell. Cross winds at 100+ are interesting. I suppose the blurry vision could have been tiredness and intense concentration.

I know what you mean; my house is pretty close to an M4 junction and after doing some speed on the M4 I come off onto a 30 limit road and I'm doing something like 70 without realising it. Shocked

My commute is roughly 15 minutes of B road, 25 minutes M1, then 20 minutes B road again. When I join the motorway, I'm quite happy to sit at 65-70, but after about 5 minutes my speed starts creeping up to 80-85 (would be faster if I had a screen). The last part of my journey I find I'm riding much faster than when I started.

Same thing happens on my way home again, so it's not the fact that the second lot of B roads are faster than the first.
