I went for a drive today (yeah I know) on the way to the my theory test.
The A16 is a pretty boring road that's puzzlingly notorious for its blind corners and moronic drivers.

On this 30 minute drive, I saw no fewer than 10 uncomfortable close calls, usually concerning 5 chavs in a polo swerving out to do blind overtakes, novas tyresquealing as they flew into oncoming traffic exiting a junction ... the list goes on.

But I see it every day, even in my tiny little town—going for a ride at 5 in the morning, there'll be corsas doing laps of the one way system at 60 on really narrow, poorly surfaced roads.

Is it getting worse? I remember a time where going to France meant endless jokes on the quality of their driving, but even spending 9-10 hours on the road there I don't remember seeing as many incidents as I do here in just those 30 minutes today.

I must say, I've seen similar behaviour from riders. Is it wrong to expect a more sensible driving style just because the vehicle is capable of causing greater damage?

Discuss.
