how long will these camcorders and espically the tapes be made for ?

i know they have been around for a few years now but i am looking to buy a camcorder. i dont have much money so cant afford mega bucks but as i want something that will be around for a few more years and be readily avaliable to buy the tapes etc, i would be willing to wait and save abit more if these would be off production lines in the next few years. but as you can get a fairly good one for only £150 if they were around for another 3-5 years id prob consider one of these

also whats better the dvd camcorders or the hard drive camcorders?
ive seen hard drive camcorder with 20gbs but the beauty of a dvd camcorder is that you dont run out of space you just buy more discs.

if you had the option which one would you go for?

You can always download video from a HDD camera to a computer and carry on. However the cheap HDD cameras aren't quite up to the quality of a similarly priced DV camera I believe.

DV tape will be around for a long time, so I wouldn't worry about it on that account.
