today, as I was happyly riding around, bike decided to cut off in middle of a roundabout... then it suddenly kicked in and started firing again, whilst I was waving my arms about to warn the cars around me, couldve been my fault dont really know and it may not even relate to the problem described, well when I got home I noticed the headlight was not on so thought ow must be the bulb, but then realised the bulb works when I flickthe long beam switch, Im guessing one of the switches is dead... any thoughts ? ideas? advice?

There are two filaments in the bulb. One of them (the dip one) has probably blown. You'll be able to see if you take it out and have a look.
