ok went to look at one today and it looks like what i'm looking for, the only problem was that the engine sounded a bit more rattly that any other bike i've owned on tick over. It wasn't like a rattle that pre-empted a problem with the engine just more noisy than i consider normal, is this apparent with other gs500s as well?

what yeah gs500 was it??
they are kinda noisy when they are cold but quieten down a bit when everything has warned up and expanded.
the older ones were particually bad, at start up,
it might be a case of the valve shims needing doing, or possibly the cam chain.
you'll safely get over 60000 miles out of a gs500 with out any thing being done except oil and filter changes

nope no orings just the bearings then a spacer that fits inside the bearings, then the bolt that goes inside the spacer,
what do you mean up and down on your wheel??
surely its not your wheel, but movement in the whole swing arm???

Will do but having issues getting the bolt off, going to go to a bearing shop and get new ones, and drop the whole linkage into a mechanic for fitting I think.

Anyway this isn't my thread so I'll leave you guys to it Smile
