...take to rebuild an RGV250 bottom end?

Also can anyone tell me what I might have to pay for parts? I'm going to strip the top end, and am happy with doing that, but I'm pretty sure there is something wrong with a big end bearing, which means a crank rebuild.

I just need to know in terms of the bottom end because I intend to put the top end back together myself. I'm fairly sure that a crank rebuild is beyond my current mechanical ability and so I would like to get it done professionally.

Any help appreciated! Smile

bttom end is fairly easy, its just a matter of splitting the bottom in 2,
it shouldnt take more than a couple of hours to split, remove the bearings, and then reinstall both bearings and join it all back together again,
apart from the bearings, the mechanic should only need the jointing paste,
overall cost shouldnt be more than 100quid

Only if it needs outside mains. If it needs a crank rebuild i would guess £200 on that alone.

the liklyhood of the crank needing rebuilt is very minimal, but still a possibility, fingers crossed its just bearings,
you may as well do all the bearings if you are opening the bad boy up Very Happy Thumbs Up

Seem to remember Marjay saying that the pistons might have been clattering the heads - hence why i was thinking dead big ends.

Aye that they were.

Nasty noise like the engine being full of gravel. So I'm looking at about £300 ish then?

rgv has one of the easiest bottom ends to split - with most strokers the crank and gearbox are in the same cases, but the rgv has the cases split three ways so you can take the crank out without disturbing the rest.

getting the engine out of the bike is a bit of a game though.......

Thats what I'm doing at the moment! Smile

I've only got the sidestand switch, the Oil pump cable and the exhausts to remove and I'm able to drop the engine.
