Figured its something no one has had a good chin wag about in a while. Last thread on it was about 3-4 years ago and i figure a lot of people come an gone in that time (for all the repost police Middle Finger kidding Laughing )

Anyone have any personalised number plates on their bikes or are they considered too tartarrific?

Bout anyone seen any good ones?

(Thought of this cause today i saw a bike with KN03 as its standard number plate, and i hope i aint the only person in the world who reads that as KNOB!)

So you didn't see the thread by Titz about a week ago then Razz

Anyways, I find slogans pretty stupid. Bit like the randomcruises stickers you find on your average chav's saxo.

Saying that though, a mate from work has " My other ride is your mum" on his R1, Which made me laugh Laughing

I must admit, i did look at a bike for sale with a private plate, and thought "o0o tarty bit" But unless it was uber cheap, or it was a present, i wouldnt have one.

most of them you cant make out anyway, and all the good ones (offencive) cant be had.

Seen some crackers that i want MY55ZXR is a good un, also theres an old banger round here with K123FFS on it that i may try and nab.

Want one with 2HAT in there somewhere, that would be cool.

It's an easy way to customise your vehicle, if you can afford it why not.

Haha, My bad.Embarassed

Oh well, on the proper topic this time.

I have been recently looking at getting a plate but to be honest I would only ever get one if they weren't so ridiculously priced.

The problem is, to get a plate that someone would recognise as meaning something is likely to cost a small fortune, and then you have the added cost of transferring the reg onto/off the vehicle.

If you can afford a proper one, i.e S1MON then it's just about bearable. But the origional point of a personal plate is to show wealth and status.

When someone has something like M41 RKS or J10 HNY it completely defeats the object and just says to people "i want to pretend i have loads of money but all i could afford was £250 for something that remotely resembles what i was after".

I had "H4 RVF" on my old RVF, but it came with the bike and turned out the bike was knackered anyway. Number plate was probably it's best feature!

I'm sure another member recently mentioned at squires they had a bike imported and as look would have it, they got the model nunber as the last three digits, and often asked if it was personalised.

FTR, I would be happy with that plate above, Cos it's what I would want. Thumbs Up (if I was being tarty) but unless i has some meaning to you, can't say I see a piont in sending cash on one. Thumbs Up

I think they are usually associated with daily mail reading bmw 316 drivers who work in marketing/accountancy/something else boring. The worst is when theres an incomprehensible plate and it has a slogan at the bottom illustrating what it was attempting to look like. Say the plate says "M75K BNZ" and underneath it has Mark Baines. My dad has this plate on his car, there not worth it , every time you get a new car you have to pay around £80 to get it put on the new one. Also you lose your money as soon as you by it, because if you go to sell it again it is worth around £200 less, thats how the company's that sell them make there money, also the price for them is ridiculous (this plate was £1200 4 years ago)

So? 80 quid is nothing the grand scheme of things. You spend x thousand on a car/bike and you care about another £80?

It's like a tattoo. if you want one, get it and fuck what everyone else thinks. Even if you spend £250 on it and only have it for a few years, you're not exactly going to miss that cash are you? It's probably the same as you'd spend on 3 heavy nights out on the town. Spread that over the time of ownership.

I'm still waiting for my new one to be made up and sent out, takes about 10 working days from order.

IMO they're just a pointless waste of money, I tend to make my plates so small you can't read them anyway, Wink

I find that most 'personalised' plates don't make any sense unless they are explained.

I like the ones where it matches the bike, RVF etc, but unless you know bikes they are still pretty meaningless to most people.

My dad was looking at a white VFR some years back the main reason he didn't bu it was because the numberplates last 3 letters was POO. Laughing If I could find a good plate for cheap I would like

S4
CIB

(speed four)
(my Initals) But because of the audi S4 I can't see it happening.
