Does anyone? Shocked

I was just curious about a few things to do with the warranty and services. I know that the 600 mile service is free apart from consumables but what about the services after that? I know the service interval is supposed to be 4000 miles so I presume after the 600 mile service the next is 4600 miles?

Thanks (Only if you can help Cool )

On the R1 it was 6000 or a year what ever came first.

Usually, it is fixed mile services up until a certain point. After that it just turns into 'every x miles'.

Also with Yamaha, and I may have been decieved by one of their dealerships, it has to be serviced from where you initially bought it.

I sadly bought my bike from a dealership that closed down a couple of weeks later. When I took it to the nearest one for its first 'free' service, I was told "Sorry 'nowt can be done la la la' and frankly it was only £50 including cons. so frankly I didn't want to waste my time chasing Yamaha about it and making a big deal of a big deal.

Yes, your second service should be at 4600 - although you may want to have it a little early at 4000 so future counting is easier.

Yamaha did change the service intervals to 6000 miles on some 'bikes, so just check that doesn't apply to yours.

You don't need to have it serviced by a Yamaha dealer to keep the warranty, you just need to demonstrate that it's been serviced to the required standard.

Don't forget to have your service book stamped.

The free first service is something that is offered by the dealers, not the manufacturer. In effect, you pay for it as part of your OTR charges, that is why it wouldn't be free at another dealer.

Next service is 4000 miles then 8k then12k etc if its intervals are every 4k. The 600miler is mainly to check everything is tight and hasn't worked loose. Your service manual will give you the mileage/times for services.

Am I right in assuming that you've bought a bike brand new? If so, have you actually looked in the service book that came with it??? All your questoins are answered in there.

Okay guys thanks for the help.
