Err...
i ran mine from brand new on fully Synth so i can't see why not.
unless i am mistaken.
dont for get to run it in properly
and don't stay at the same speed for a long time or you'll glaze the piston.
enjoy !

They may have said that cos fully synth is for use at higher revs (i think) therefore it wont heat up as quick whilst uising the bike at lower revs (keith or someone who knows Smile please comment) i cant see it doing any harm at all whilst your running the bike in.... if you do decide to use fully synth then i'd recommend using it in the bike all the time. By the way you want to use Castrol TTS.

If you dont want to use fully synthetic use partially, like Castrol TT. Like Andrew says, if you want synthetic personally i prefer Castrol TT - smells nicest.

Well, the whole point of the running-in process is to flush out the crap from the engine (as a result of the manufacturing process)...fully synth oil is apparently too smooth and pure, and therefore wouldn't be quite as cohesive...

...by all means use fully synth, it's not my bike after all, and you'll probably sell it before you'll notice the consequences anyway...I don't think that any difference wll be noticable within the first few thousand miles, which is why you don't currently have any problems, Phil...

I know its a bit out of topic..

I got my bike second hand and I used Caltex Revtex 250 2T (i think its mineral, it says JASO FB/ SAE GRADE F/M 2), dont know if this is bad! And not sure if I can change over to fully synth now, any ideas?

Cheers! Smile

Hi

The argument about not using fully synthetic oil for running in is normally only for 4 stroke engines. For a 2 stroke I dont think the difference is really relevant. Buy what you are happy paying for. Cheaper oils may not offer the same protection, but it may be cheaper in the long run to just budget for more regular engine rebuild!

All the best

Keith

Thanks guys 4 the feedback its been a great help... done 50miles already on it.....it sounds quite loud n 'loose' not gone over 5k revs n usaually hang around 4.5k chaning revs every now n then..... takin it back in 2morro i think the seat catch is a little buggered as it won't hold the seat in place (the seat pops up when its in place).

thanks again 4 the feed back
