Well, to describe myself as unlucky would be an understatement right now!!

Sorry to go on but i've got to rant and rave and the house is empty so i can't do it here!

So as some people know i got 3 points for no rear L plates, got stopped as i had a puncture.

So the cost of a new tyre, an MOT and a fixed penalty later and i thought it was over.

but ooooohhhhhhhh no. The next twist in the tale is that i've got my bike test tomorrow and do i have my license back........NOPE!!!

So i phoned up the fixed penalty office and she said 'i can confirm we have it in the office and it will be dispatched first class today for you sir'

My test is 10am tomorrow so if it doesn't arrive i have to pay the price of the test!!!!

The other annoying thing is the penalty office is a 10 minute drive from me, so i could pick it up but 'oh no sir we don't have a public counter.........'

"Can't you make an exception as i need my license for tomorrow morning"

'oh no sir we don't have a public counter.........'

"Couldn't i stand outside the office as the post comes out???"

'oh no sir we don't have a public counter.........'

"couldn't someone pass it to me if i bring my passport for ID"

'oh no sir we don't have a public counter.........'

'oh no sir we don't have a public counter.........'

'oh no sir we don't have a public counter.........'

AAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

End of day, no matter how frustrating this is, you broke the law, this is what happens.

Thats a sickener Stotty Sad

and its really annoying when they wont bend the rules, just a tiny bit and let you pick your licence up....but I guess rules are rules, and if they made an exception for you, then they would have to do it for everyone.

Dude,

Turn up at the office if its not that far away, the worst that'll happen is they'll send you home empty handed

I spoke to the manager she said they can't for security reasons.

I asked if they'd do special delivery..they said no.

Takes the piss it really does.

I was tempted to stand outside and speak to the postman instead

Why did you leave it until the last passable moment to ask for it? If you had tried a couple of days ago it would be there now.

You did ask nicely, didn't you?

If I worked there, and someone pleaded I'd try to find a way round to help them out.

If, however, they spoke to me like they wanted to call me a

Wasn't her that broke the law, was it.

Nevertheless, I do feel your frustration when something is out of your hands like this.

So you've spoken to the manager, well now phone there mangaer, then there manager and so on until you get somewhere. If they say that they are the highest that you can go, they are lieing! There is always someone higher!

You broke the law, but this was not part of your punishment! So everyone that is saying "YOU BROKE THE LAW" are just being arses!

Have you tried phoning the DVLA for their advice?

or get dressed up as a post man, complete with black and white cat, and go and 'collect' the post......... Laughing

Will you loose your test fee if you cancel it so close to the date? you could always phone the local dvla office/ test centre and see if someone can help you out

I have to pay the fee of £58 regardless now.

I put on my puppy dog voice and was very very nice to both the people i spoke to but they assured me there was nothing that could be done which is utter rubbish but it's too late now.

All the people who say i broke the law so i suffer i think are being a little unfair. As bob the builder said i've paid my fine, i've got my points end of. This is just annoying!!

My CBT expires May 5th so if things don't work out tomorrow then i really really hope there's another test before the 5th or i'll have to do my CBT again!!!

Tried that one, to no success. It has to be a photographic license which is annoying.

They also circled a 'full licence' on the yellow slip which is odd.......

The paper given by the police now becomes your licence. The photocard part would be with your paper counterpart so the paper bit covers that as well.

Take your passport as well for photo ID but i cant see why they would refuse this.

Why did you send your licence off only a couple of days before you needed it for your test? I'm sure many of us here could have guessed that you wouldn't get it back in time.

As for the fact that they have to post it back to you, I'm not really surprised. If they haven't got a facility for public collections then that is fair enough, and they can't just hand a licence back to anyone who walks in off the street as that has major security implications as to identifying who is who. The best way (the tried and tested way) is to post it back to the licence holders home address.

Welcome to 21st century Britain. Nobody likes to bend the rules anymore for fear of a backlash from someone else. Everyone has to cover their own backside and to hell with everyone else.

You need your Driving license, both parts plastic and paper. Nothing else will do. Unless you have the old type licence then you would need your passport. No license no test. You have just wasted your test fee. a bit daft really when you could have put your test back by a week to make sure you have your documents.
Check the DSA web site. You could also ring them for further information.
