Bikes and Permit Holder Spaces

There is a nice resident/ permit holder only car parking bay outside my office, currently I drop the bike off 5 minutes away in a solo MC space. ( today is Sunday so its in the permit bay )

I'm in Edinburgh, does anyone know what the rules might be with regards to parking in permit holder spaces without a permit?

I would guess at no permit will result in a ticket... Or your bike getting knocked over as someone with a permit pulling into the space.

Simple answer would be to apply for a permit.
