Theres one for sale at a local dealers for £1995 and If I can get a trade in on my 125 I might consider it:

Anyone know anything about it- what the 'RR' and 'TRI-ARM' bits mean? tope speed? 0-60? handling? insurance group?
I know the paint is shit but I could live with it (I think- wait til I see it in the flesh Smile ).

The Tri-Arm bit is something to do with the swinging arm. If I remember correctly, the Gull-Arm CBR's have a different swinging arm to the Tri-Arm, not too sure what the exact difference is, but aparently the Gull-Arm has slightly better handling.

If you are going to buy a CBR400, make sure you get a test ride... find a nice open road, stick it in 6th gear at about 5mph, and it should pull right through the rev range to the redline at 14,500rpm, if it doesn't then somethings wrong.

Tri-Arm refers to the structure of the swingarm, and implies that the model is NC23, which means that it's a pre-1989 bike...

Insurance group is probably the same as the other sports 400 - around 11 or 12.

Not sure about performance, but it should be similar to most of the other sports 400s...and it's a Honda, which should mean that's pretty reliable Smile

spot on Tin- its a 1988 model! Very Happy

thanks guys- I guessed it was something to do with the swing-arm but I wasn't sure what.

The plan is to go looking around local dealers all week after work then spend saturday afternoon in Newcastle in the famous (round here anyway) westgate hill. Get the 125 road-worthy A.S.A.P (still waiting for the bolt to fix the gear change to the foot-rest hangers) then trade the piece of shit in for a 400 with a warranty. That CBR is just the first one I've found.
