I'd reccomend Snetterton as a good track for your first trackday! ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F

Donington Park. It's big, plenty of space, its a nice flowing track and there's good facilities etc. ____________________ Colin McRae MBE 1968 - 2007 RIP

I'm in staffs as well, Darley moor isn't too far from us, a very basic and unintimidating place for a first trackday. The only downside being that for the £100 they charge you could be doing somewhere like Cadwell park that's much more fun, more technical but also more fun. |

I did Rockingham for my first track day, two months after I passed my test it was really good fun though. I have also done Snetterton which is nice and easy to learn with nice big straights I just managed to get 130 on the back straight which is the fastest ive ever been on it. but the only trouble I found with snetterton was I was on a 600 so everyone seemed to power away on the straights with their R1's Fireblades and 750's.
But you could do worse than rockingham there are lots of corners but still fairly easy to get to know whats comming next. ____________________ **************Honda CBR 600 FR***********

Sorry to go off topic, but reading through the costs of UK track days is shocking! Just did a track day here in NZ for $40... that's like less than 15 quid.
Bloody ridiculous prices back home. Don't miss that at all.
Good luck with it though, stupid amounts of fun when you get out there. Very addictive too. ____________________ The tiger who came for a pint |

Yours are a load cheaper, but then reading your post, seems you don't get quite so much; 4 sessions, what you describe as almost a pothole forming in one corner.
Supposed to be restricted 120km/h in novice - just that they let people wearing draggin jeans onto a track day would worry me (though you say they don't in a faster group so not so bad).
Unfortunately due to space / noise considerations there's relatively few tracks in the UK, so they’re in higher demand. Also, safety tends to be taken a bit more seriously.
Tracks in spain can be very cheap, however we were generally a bit worried when we found they had no marshals and couldn’t even find the key for the control tower.
After two riders collided, one actually went back on foot to see if there was the other rider still unconscious in a bush somewhere . |

Hi
You are in North Staffs. Oulton is probably your closest track (spent the day there today taking photographs), although Three Sisters is close (small kart track, used for some bike track days, best for Supermotos) as is Darley Moor.
Donington is not that far away. Pretty good facilities, and easy to get to.
I would say take your own bike but just take it easy as you get used to the environment. If it is a hire bike then you won't be used to it, and many hire companies will stop you going out again should you lob one of their bikes down the track.
All the best

Hello
May I recommend this for your first time.
I only passed my test in November 06, and I've already done 2 track days, 1st was at Anglesey and the 2nd at Brands.
It's a brilliant way to improve cornering skills. I'm not fast but once you get over the initial nerves, it's such a blast whatever your ability.
Beware, you'll be hooked! ____________________ Tracy

I'm off to Silverstone at the end of the month and just watched the track vids that have been posted. The commentator kept going on about how slippery the track was...
Will give it a go, won't be blasting around at 140mph dow the start/finish straight though..
