i have four, all rescue cats. Oliver my youngest is now 6 and has never meowed, he does on occasion have a mental fit and run around growling but not one meow ever, even if ive tripped over him or trod on him.

My cat's a rescue cat too. He distinguishes fires mainly but has been known to delve into coastal and sea rescue.

Groan, groan....

No, seriously, my cat was from the RSPCA and didn't meow for a while, kinda made a sound but not a meow. He also used to try climbing up walls and had very frequent episodes where he'd spazz out all over the place.

We've had him for a fair few years now and he's calmed down considerably. Especially since we moved to NZ. Maybe you need to do that!

some of our mates have moved to NZ and invited us for a holiday

Cool, friendly mad cats are the best choice of cat, in my opinion.

If you ever do make it over to NZ and are stuck for ideas, give us a shout and we can discuss crazy feline antics over a crate of Tui and a BBQ. Thumbs Up

My cat is also a rescue cat, we got her from the CPL.
She's the most vocal cat I've ever known. Never stops mewling.
She's also utterly mad and loves nothing more than to spend hours curled up on your lap before tearing round the house and disappearing on shelves, the tops of cabinets, you name it.

She's always meowed though, even when we'd just brought her in.
Some cats just don't, I guess. Karma
