Hi all,

Ive just bought a yzf 750 and its the 1st time ive really used it today, the problem im having is under hard-ish breaking the front end judders (whole front end) it is not through the levers so probably not warped discs? It doesnt do it under engine breaking, light breaking or just breaking wih the back break.

Would this be headstock bearings, ive turned the front wheel(not on a stand) and i cant feel any notchiness in the steering.

There is also one other problem, when pulling off from a standstill i take the revs up a bit to compensate letting the clutch out slowly but then the revs die down so i have to give it alot more revs to stop it from stalling. Now im not letting the clutch out too fast because it does it when slipping the clutch aswell, the bike rides fine and changes gear ok.

Cheers for any help, Matt

Clutch problem might be down to dodgy springs (guess).

Braking judder might be the pads vibrating - curable by copper grease behind the pad. To check the headstock bearings, put the bike on a centre/rear paddock stand and grab the front wheel. Yank it back and forth (be careful not to yank the bike off the stand) rather vigorously and see if anything wiggles.

Ok thanks, could the head bearings still be shot even though there is no notch felt in them?

Would vibrating pads cause that much judder?

And lastly would the springs only effect the pulling off or general riding? It does change gear no problem and does pull,no slipping clutch.

cheers, Matt

place your fingers under the bearings, sit on the bike and rock it forwards holding the front brake, if theres movement, your bearings could be gone (mine are)

check everything really, wheel spindle, callipers are tight, discs arnt warped (spin the wheel if its of the ground)

also check for play in the front wheel, side to side motion would indicate your wheel bearings are shot, wich is one of the things i would check.

good luck.
