My insurance last year was £381 and was due for renew on 21st of this month. I got my reminder it looked to be higher than last year, so I called them (Bennets) was informed my premium this year was £561......WTF I said can you tell me why....."erm! no sir"

I am one year older, wiser and one more year no claims and it goes up by £180............... Middle Finger that

Went to www.ebikeinsurance.co.uk got same cover for £220

motto to this, don`t just renew it without checking it. Embarassed

You have probably reached that certain age where they deem you to be more of a risk on your bike.

just becuase you have one year more ncd doesnt mean your insurance will go down. have you been caught speeding by any chance?? the bike you ride i.e its insurance risk could have risen, your area rating could have shot up due to more claims in your area for the last insurance year, have you added anyone else to your policy? have you changed bike half way through your insurance? have you moved house?
i could go on and on and on. there is a million and one things that gets rated on your insurance, not just you and your ncd, still 180 quid still seems a steep rise

Well my insurance went down £20 + 1yr NCD , no claims no accidents,

however I seem to be getting high quotes for the CBR600 , unsurprising its a jump from grp 10 to grp 14.

ah yes, Bennetts. They're trying it on. I was incensed when they sent me a renewal letter with a higher quote saying they were just going to use my card details from last time to renew. This was despite me keeping same bike, no claims, passing full test etc.

I rang up to query it, told them in no uncertain terms that I would not be renewing with them at price and then all of a sudden "ah yes sir I've just found this new policy for £80 less".

You have to watch Bennett's.. they'll get away with anything they can. I'll check ebikeinsurance though.

Hi

My insurance went down last year from £230 to £140. And that is for a tuned 1200 Bandit with all the mods declared.

All the best

Keith

Mine has gone down from £450 to £315. I got a quote from Bike Team who later emailed me with a substantially lower quote which my current insurers then matched.

Remember that premiums are all based on statistics.

For example, if you have just turned 21, and all of a sudden over the last month single 21 year olds that live in your area that do the same job as you have crashed often. Expect your premium to go up, obviously your not going to know that though.

What he should of told you when you phoned him that the 'rates' for people matching your criteria have 'changed'

Usually meaning people matching your criteria are claiming far too much

PS

Couple tips about insurance.
Tell them you have a partner if your single, lowers your premium, and they'l never find out!
And people with driver jobs have hihger premiums Eg Delivery drivers, taxi drivers, couriers etc

Shop around every year.
Even the brokers get complacent.
Change from one to another.
I am dead loyal to the insurance company that is the cheapest. Thumbs Up

That said, you may have problems with claims for compensation fro the cheaper less well run outfits. But of course there is always exception
