My brake lever looks like this

Due to a broken hand the span to the bar is too big. Its not adjustable so does anyone have any suggestions on how to bring it closer to the grip or maybe an alternative?

I couldn't tell you how to adjust it, but have you considered a dogleg lever? The shape of it means it's a little closer to the bar.

EDIT - although it does look suspiciously like the one you currently have Embarassed ....if it's only short term, what about getting a spare and bending it a little???? You can pop the original back on when your hand heals.

Grind down the bit that pushes the master-cylinder piston.

Yeah I had thought of that but thought I might get problems with the brake light. In the end I decided to drill and tap a small hole in the bit that pushed on the brake light switch. Small grub screw and its adjustable.
