upon startup it now makes continual intermittant clunking noise, the clunking noise you normally associated with when a PC shuts down and a certain thing stops spinning, the hard drive?
seems to recognise the hard drive, states the name of it etc, but cant boot the system, just says error, and i got a blue screen a few times as well, which is the first one ive seen in years
very much like a fictional robot shutting down clunking noise, if you get what i mean, short of making a sound recording i can't explain it any better than that
however, it was an old PC and we were both waiting for it to give up
my question is this, who do you see about the possibility of recovering hard drive data
before anyone starts off on the soap box about regular backups, i have 120 GB backed up on my external hard drive which is damn near all the important stuff, and that in turn is backed up on another external hard drive that is never used, kind of a DIY raid
we just lost a collection of photos, handful of music and a few other useful bits that would be nice to get back if its possible
cheers for any thoughts
on the plus side, it has given me the excuse to connect my kick arse system to the internet in its place, so i can now play half life 2, battlefield, and associated modern online delights ____________________ So in other words, he stopped you for being flagrantly in posession of a motorcycle in direct contravention of the Hippies, Darkies and People Whose Face I Don't Like The Look of (Police Powers) Act. 1976 |
