sorted the wiring problem i had earlier, just got a new loom.
now one cylinder seems to be overheating and the other stays normal!
its quite odd, because i left it idling for a few mins today, came back, one exhaust was warmish, the other was SO BLOODY HOT IT WAS UNREAL!!! got a nasty bastard of a burn on my elbow Very Happy
anyone know why this is? no oil maybe? (there is, im not that stupid) Very Happy
open to suggestions as always, cheers

What model is it,a twin or a four cylinder.
If it is a twin then the hotter side might be running lean.
Check the colour of the plug.

I would suspect the cooler one is the problematic one.

My guess would be it's misfiring, and would suspect the plug cap or HT lead. Possibly the coil.

Just my first impression.

its a 400-n superdream Sad

theres compression in both cylinders (2 cylinder) and also a spark.
i take it if it is running lean its to do with the carbs right? and is it a big job? or just a case of 'screw you till your right again'.

the sparks sometimes come out carbon'ed up, sometimes petrolled (flooding), and sometimes oiled. this seems to have stopped since i gave the plugs another 1/4 turn, now they just seem carbon'd.
this would suggest too much air getting in right?
maybe run it on the choke for now?
but how would i adjust it for the long run?
cheers

The plugs should be put in hand tight, and then given a quarter turn with a plug spanner.

This is a guide rather than an instruction.

running lean is generally the jetting on the carbs, although could point to an air leak.

today it somehow sorted itsself.
i was scared to rev the engine very high because it hadnt been running for so long, but it was just annoying me.
i full throttled it, it bounced off 5-6000rpm for a few seconds, blew out the rusted through exhaust, and now its fine! a massive hole in the silencer, but it works! i went for a blat around the garden, and it seems ok, ive got all the power back.
must have just been something that got blasted away when i revved it.
