Hi folks,

I totally stripped my SZR660 since I needed to drop the engine, I took the opportunity to powdercoat the frame and swingarm.

Well I'm now staring at a very extensive pile of freshly re-finished parts and it needs reassembled.

Confident as I am that I can get it all back together, I feel a little out of my depth regarding the correct order to do it in.

I'm thinking along the lines of "dropping" the frame itself over the engine and bolting them together as a starting point, then assembling it into a rolling chasis from there.
I dont fancy trying to "lift" the engine up into a rolling chasis, when the frame is freshly powdercoated!

Any advice from people who've done this before, particularly tips on the best order to do things in, would be much appreciated.

With a little help from the wife, the engine was repositioned and the frame reattached Thumbs Up With a couple of layers of new paint, the frame holes were a little snug so in the words of Arkwright I just needed to 'j-j-j-jiggle it a bit' and the bolts slipped in a treat. Only managed to scratch the paint a little when the frame bounced on the engine almost knocking it over to the wifes supprise.

Its nice to finally get the frame out of the bedroom and the engine off the patio.

Just need some garage floor cleaner now as it is stained beyond belief.


If you want to see a bike taken apart and then put back together again and again and again...., then I think I now a thread Shifty Laughing

Be systematic and methodical.

I completed the front then rear, or was it rear then front? I cant remember. The use of a paddock stand would help. I had to continuely shuffle the trolley jack and stands around which is not easy when the parts start going back onto the bike.

Tape the contact parts like they do on the TV as I managed to chip the paint from the start Rolling Eyes

To be honest, its like a big puzzle, the hardest part I had was remembering the route for the wiring, but with the odd photo of the before and a little common sense, then no problem.
