PostPosted: 21:20 - 01 May 2007    Post subject: Ive got an interview (finally) (UPDATED) Reply with quote

After months of applications and sending out CVs to companies, I finally have 2 interviews lined up.

One is tomorrow at Screwfix Direct, the other is at Royal Mail on friday.

Could someone give me some tips and what kinda questions to expect from interviews for shops.

Not had an interview in ages, and really don't want to bollox either of these up.

Cheers, Mike Smile

I'd imagine they'll be the normal thing. Just make sure you fit the profile they're after. Say your willing to learn blah and if you want the job then you should breeze the interview. Just remember to sit upright and with your hands on your legs paying attention all the way through.

Just tell them what you think they want to hear. You can usually tell what they are looking for by the questions they ask.

My interview for my current job was a 90minute shop floor assesment (interaction with customers, observations with customers/staff/layouts etc) and I'm a sales assistant! I'd hate to go through the managers interview! Laughing

Ah right Smile

My friends have said not to worry to much, and I'm not as pissed off with myself now.

Laughing

Looking back at the interview it was, for me, the best question to stutter on as I didn't have any previous customer relations experience. As I haven't worked in a shop before. So when I did eventually answer, I did say sorry I don't have any prior experience with customers.

With royal mail I know that the pay is better and I will get more hours. As I did expect to be offered more hours to work by screwfix after reading their advert.

If I got the job at royal mail though it'd mean i'd have to work with my girlfriends mum Shocked

Im happy with what ive been offered by screwfix, should I ring royal mail and say sorry? or still go and see what happens?

Brick Wall

Been a bad week Embarassed

To be honest £6.50 seems pants, but a jobs a job.

As its not going to be a career, I would attend the other interview and see who offers the best deal.

Im at college and looking to go onto university, so £6.10 for 18.5 hours work aint too bad considering what my mates get paid.

So that's 110 quid a week, no tax or NI with expandable hours?

Where's the problem?

I thought us students did pay tax or NI if the weekly pay reached more than £90 a week?
