piston rings

i bought a new piston and piston rings. when i opened the piston rings box i found two piston rings and one other ring. what is that for and where should i use it!

You dont really need 2 use it, I know people how have had trouble with them coming out and causing more trubble.

I'v just rebuilt my enging and i didn't bother!!

Anyway on the box it says fit the expander opersit 2 the ring locator pin BUT if you do that the ring wont fit in cos the expander caches on the locator pin
