Had a call from a friend, that I hooked up with a few months ago after a drunken night, to tell me I might have chlamydia Rolling Eyes

, apparently she gets her self checked out from time to time.
I really want to tell my housemate (or any mate really), the problem is none of them know that we slept together and I'd really rather keep it that way(i think she would aswell). They would definatily question where I think I caught it from so telling them is out of the question really.

Honestly I'm normally more careful but she's a long term friend that I see most weeks, she said she was on the pill and didn't mention anything about condoms so I just kind of thought it would be ok(stupid I know Embarassed

) plus I'd been drinking heavily all night.

I suppose I really should have had myself checked in the past, I don't sleep around loads and can easily keep track of my rather disappointing sexual history.

So do I contact my doctor or go straight to one of the proper sexual health clinics??
She tried to give me some advice on the phone but I was too embarrassed to talk about it with her and just ended the conversation as quickly as possible.
Its going to be terrible if she's out at the weekend, I really don't want to have to talk about it with her.

I'm dreading the test, can anybody tell me how the tests are done I'm really not looking forward to having an umbrella jammed down my winky.

I was just thinking that there had been a bit of a quiet period with my sexy times, looking at it now I'm really glad at least I don't have to call anybody up and break the news to them.

I would think the main thing is not to worry about it at the moment. You will drive yourself mad thinking about all of the possibilities when you don't know anything for certain.

Speak to your Doctor first. If you get yourself booked in for a checkup then the Doc will tell you all you need to know. Posting about it on the forums for advice is all well and good but you really want to be talking to an expert.

You could walk away with a clean bill of health. I would expect you will probably be a little more careful about where you put your nob though after this.

If you go to your GP, he/she will refer you to the GUM clinic. The clinic will then write back to your GP telling him/her what treatment you have had. This will go in your file.

If you go directly to the GUM clinic, the clinic will keep the details confidential and will not write to your GP.

Personally, I'd go with the latter (and I'd make a name/address up too - preferably at a house number that doesn't exist (one higher than the highest number on the street) so as not to inconvenience anyone else).

I've read a bit about it on a few websites, but if she did have it when I slept with her, is it certain that I will have caught it? or is it one of those things that you can be a lucky and get away with?

I won't quote the whole message again but........

She told me that she does get herself checked out from time to time when she was breaking the news to me, I took this to mean that she was in for a random check and that they discovered the infection. I don't know how often time to time means, maybe she was checked a week before we slept together, but maybe she means she was checked once 5 yrs ago before this time Confused

I'm not trying to make out that its definatily her fault, she clearly belives this though as she keeps sending me text messages saying how sorry she is and thanks for being so understanding.

But the facts are she has chlamydia she's slept with 3(at least) people in the lsince she was last tested without using protection.
I'm the only one she's been able to tell as far as I know as she has no contacts for the other guys.

I may or may not have chlamydia I've had unprotected sex 3 times ever, and the first was with my long term partner, we met when we were both virgins and she went on the pill.
Everyother person I slept with(and thats not really very many btw) I've used protection with.

So yes it is possible that I passed it on to her which is the reason why I'm being so understanding, but its a lot more likely that she passed it on to me.......if I even have it.

I'm not sure why I haven't been checked up until now, I guess I'm a bit of a coward and have been putting it off, I messed up.

If it turns out I have got anything I'l treat it as a 50/50 blame thing we were both stupid and we may both have suffered the consequences. I've certainly learnt from it already, its up to her if she does.

We're still friends and I don't think shes a skank, the one night of passion was a joke but I'd say sleeping with (at least) 3 people in a fairly short time unprotected is a bit of habbit!
