....over 1200 miles between 17:30 on Friday and 22:00 Sunday

Hurtled up to Peterhead on Friday night, to visit my uncle. Got in at 01:45, Saturday (after a lie in) saw us do another 160 miles around the Eastern highlands... I'd forgotten what hills and mountains look like! Smile Headed out towards Ellon, Huntly and some other bits.. I really have no idea Very Happy Must look at the GPS track-log.

Today, I left Peterhead at about 11:30, and my Uncle followed me on his 30 yr old BMW, where we headed to Aberdeen, then took the A93 out towards Braemar. He turned north, back towards Aberdeen just before Braemar, however, as we were heading into rain and he didn't have any waterproofs.

I decided to put my waterproofs on at that point, before the rain hit. As it happens, the rain hit While I was getting them on, abnd by the time I was on my way again, the roads were wet, but there wasn't any watter falling out the sky.

Nevermind, the climb up to Braemar, and from there over the Spittal of Glenshee is high enough I decided to keep them on for a bit extra warmth (there's still some snow up there).

the A93 is a wonderful road, leading down into Blairgowrie, and eventually Perth. From there I jumped on the A9 to make some progress down to Stirling. There's roadworks on the Forth road bridge, so took the M90 to Edinburgh from Stirling.

From the Edinburgh Bypass, I took the A7 to Galashiels, and from there the A68 right down to Darlington. the wind coming over there was quit unerving, and was so strong that right-handers felt very skittish.

From Darlington, I jumped on the A1 for 10 mins to Scotch Corner services to get some food and fuel, and from there, played on some Yorkshire roads until I was south of York, and heading towards Lincoln. By then I realised it was going to be getting dark, and I was still a fair distance from home (and my legs were starting to get stiff after 8 1/2 hrs) so I headed for the A1 and blatted back down.

I'm going to be sorely tempted to take the A68 as a route into Scotland in future.. it adds less than an hour onto the journey, but is SO much more fun than the A1.

I'll sort out a google-earth file soon.

Only problem with the A68 is the gatsos once you get up into Scotland. Sounds like a good run though.

I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles.

Quite true... although Messrs Garmin and Autocom kept me updated as to their location, so wasn't a big deal Smile
