if you do it all the time on every journey your pretty much asking for something to go bang.

besides redlining it is stupid as the power drops bigtime after 10.5k revs anyway, your basically just screwing your engine for no real gain.

Hi

Depends on how I am going, but I do not worry about hitting the red line. Essentially the red line is where it is safe to go to regularly. On the RS the top speed is with the engine 500rpm into the red in top gear (assuming the rev counter is accurate, which it probably isnt).

Years ago on my FZ750 I was riding along rapidly and the bike stopped accelerating. I looked at the speedo and saw it was at 135mph and thought that probably had something to do with it (I thought I was doing about 100~110), then looked at the rev counter and found it was bouncing off the rev limiter, and about 1000rpm into the red line. I wasnt in top gear. Engine was quite happy, and far smoother at those revs than at normal 5500rpm cruising speed.

All the best

Keith

why dont me nsr drive that well (or at all) in 6th? its still restricted but aint it got enough power to drive the gear? its alright in 5th for cruisin at about 75 but still when i change upto 6th its just totally shit and i might aswell be goin backwards.

totally off this topic: anyone got any tips for gettin me knee to the ground when cornerin, i always bottle it an think i gonna lowside or somethin...

Two strokes thrive on revs, you wont bugger it by redlining in every gear, however...at the redline the power has already been and gone.....
ALWAYS USE A GOOD QUALITY TWO STROKE OIL
Also to make it more usable in sixth, suggest addin one tooth, poss two to rear sproket, this will lower the gearing and give you a slower top end, but......you will be able to use sixth as it will be reachable in the rev range, (as a bonus you get more acceleration as well)
