not a sensible option, unless you

1) know what you are doin
2) got a lot of time to invest
3) got a lot of money to invest

they have to be looked after very well, kept clean, and serviced regularly, as well as kept topped up with perfect 2 stroke

great bike, but not too practical, and a lot of work

i would go for something else

only my opinion by the way, pril has one and would be able to tell you a lot more, and advise you better

250 insurance is cheaper than 400 insurance. And they dont have to be kept any cleaner - as far as i know anyway! Wink They're not too unreliable either if you use fully synthetic 2 stroke oil, castrol tts and motul 600 are pretty good.

i wouldnt buy one unless the previous owner had a snap on tool chest and a micrometer in his shirt pocket its just too much of a risk for me

but maybe if I traded my planet in at a garage for one? with a warranty?

I love the looks and if insurance is cheaper..........? its all gonna depend on what stock the local dealers have, which is usually very limited.

well it all depends really
it will cost u loads more than a 4 stroke to run, you will HAVE to take proper care of a 250, changin rings every 6000km to be safe, and pistons every 10000km id say
you cannot trash it from cold, and if u trash it all the time it will prolly kill itself. u need to really give it proper attention
on the plus side it is quicker than any 400, turns sharper and stops quicker
plus it looks real good, and the newer versions have a cool double lcd display thing
looks at performance bikes this month for an idea of what can happen if you are buyin 2nd hand! (altho it laps 5 secs quicker than rvf)

i like the NSR 250 best out of the 2T 250s, specially the ones with keycard ignition - how cool is that. not as fast as the pril 250, but supposed to have better handling. according to UBG.

Thrashing a tuned 2 stroke "racer with plates" will not do any harm to it as long as it is warmed up, in fact id say it would be better for it than to just pootle around gunking up powervalves with oil etc

only prob with the nsr250 is that when u make it full power, u have to reroot electrics to the lights from elsewhere, so u never can have a neutral or stand light! thats gonna suck :(
it is one of the best lookin bikes ever and widely seen as one of if not the best handling
i love the 250's, but i have to get a 400 co i wont have the cash to run one
but i will be gettin one when i finish college and have me a good job
