Spent all day clearing my garden (rain held off, yay) including cutting down 3 trees.

One of my mates checked a tree for a nest, said nope it's fine.
Next thing, we're cutting up this felled tree and there are 4 chicks sat on the ground, shivering and terrified!!

I retrieve whats left of their nest, put them in it and ponder what to do. Eventually we decide they won't survive and the humane thing to do is neck them.

So my mate has the honour of doing it, gets the first one, and not wanting them to suffer, gives the neck a good yank to make sure. Next thing, she's stood there with a flapping body in one hand, and a head with the beak opening & closing in the other!!! Sick

She despatched the others with slightly less gore, but the vision of it's little bloody spine sticking out made me proper queasy.

So to cheer myself up after a hard days graft, I take Suzi for a quick hoon round some B roads.

Suddenly the car in front of me starts slowing incredibly quickly, for a second I thought I wouldn't stop in time (I was getting ready to overtake it once an oncoming car had passed).

Thinking 'what's this joker playing at', I then see what's made him brake. There's a little bunny rabbit scrabbling about, just avoids the front wheels, about to get past the rear, then CRUNCH! it gets caught. Sad I was just about stationary by now, I was proper distraught.

Pulled over cause bunny is still twitching, can't leave it to suffer. By the time I got off my bike, I could see it was now dead, so decided to give it a little dignity by moving it to the side of the road (I hate when creatures get spread all over the road).

Found a stick, rolled it over and EWWWW there was an eyeball hanging right out, staring at me!! Sick carried on till it was at the edge, giving a little yelp of girlish horror and disgust each time the eye appeared Laughing

Had to wait for a minute before setting off cause my legs were all wobbly! Proper spoilt the rest of the ride.

Urgh it's still making me feel weird, keep seeing the decapitated bird and the googly eyed rabbit in my head!!!

God i'm such a poof. Embarassed

Gonna stay away from animals for a while, think I must be cursed... Shocked

You could've put the little chickies in your airing cupboard and kept them fed by puking on them. Students are good at that, after all.

Thats pretty rough Laughing some years ago I hit a rabbit with my car on a deserted country road in the pitch black, it just sort of ran out directly into the valance of the car, and made this terrible clunk sound Neutral after screeching to a halt, I got out with a torch to examine it.

There it was, lying in a circle of its own blood, with one hind leg kicking furiously, spinning it round and round on the spot. Its neck was bent right back almost touching its arse Laughing and through a hole in the side of its snout, its teeth and tongue stuck out, rather mangled Sick so much blood from such a small animal. Anyway, it died as I went to poke it (as you do) so I sort of rolled it onto the verge for the foxes. Was quite sickening Neutral

That's what happened here, if the car had kept on it'd been ok!

That is so disturbing. Yet really funny, in a dark way.

I did find a big fat worm, and considered chewing it up for them. I don't like animals that much though.
