After i complete my A2 test i am looking to get a bike with a bigger engine than 500cc. I currently cant find any bikes that would tide me over for a year or so untill i can get a nice bike, So any bike's you think would fill the gap doesnt matter on look or age as long as it has an engine and a good amount of speed would be nice, Thanks for any advice given.

Also just so you know i do realise i will need to restrict it to 33bhp but that may fall out at some point (by accident of course).

What is your price range?

I got an SV650 for 3k when I passed my test and they restrict well too.

You can pick Bandits up quite cheap or naked bikes such as the ER5.

Fazers, GS500

It depends on your price range Thumbs Up

GPZ500S. I loved mine after passing my test. It was almost a shame to let it go really! My SV is much better, it cost me more though so it should be!

if you can get a good condition SV on the Curvys pre 2003 then go with an SV although there can be some overpriced ones out there. Main service is at 15k so any in that range make sure thats done and the front suspension is looked at too because it's cack. Also a fenda extenda and a hugger is a must too because of the suzuki crap finish and water messing with the plug on the front.

forums.sv650.org for some good info.

As a quick guide for my SV...

-£1700 for bike with fairing lowers, 7k miles.
-£60 hugger
-£20 fenda extender
-£60 R&G's
-£110 exhaust
-£80 seat cowl
-£60 ZX10R shock
-£70 progressive fork springs and new fork oil

Handles very well now on the road (not tried on a track) and looks pretty nice IMO Smile .

It's the height of summer. If you can wait 3 months then you will get a much better deal.
