Is it a good thing or not?
Now I have absolutely no problem with women bikers etc so this is not a dig at female bikers / drivers.
The mrs said she wants to get a bike license so she can come out riding with me and the boys.
Now whilst part of me thinks wow, it would actually be quite nice to go for a tootle out with her as I wont get in trouble for returning home late nor will she ever be able to stop me going mental and "Caining the Bitch" all the time as she will be doing the same.
The other side of me thinks, yikes she is going to tagging along on the only real bit of freedom I have.
Not only that she would expect me to tootle along behind her at 20mph whilst I want to "Apex all corners at 130mph whilst caining the cu*ting bitch"
She does not drive a car nor a bike and has no road experience what so ever so I will also be....... quite frankly shit scared for her own well being everytime she steps on the bike!
Now i know in my heart of hearts if it is what she wants to do I will help her and stand by what ever decistion she comes to.
Do any of you have partners b/f - g/f, wife, husbands etc who want to or do ride with you? How do you find it? ____________________ Suzuki VL Intruder 125cc - September 2004 to July 2005

She has been on the back of my RF600 a number of times and always come off with a grin from ear to ear.
She caught the bike bug me thinks. ____________________ Suzuki VL Intruder 125cc - September 2004 to July 2005

Mrs. K. Has hinted at the vague possibility of maybe doing a CBT in the not so distant future, though she does love riding on the back but is unnerved about being in control of a bike. I'd love her to learn to ride but she'll probably be bnetter than me very quickly and I would be worried about her riding around on all the NSL's around here on a 125...

I hope if she does start riding that she is a better rider than me.
Learning from my mistakes is going to be far less painful for her.
My only gripe really is biking for me is my own little bit of space, where I can get out with the lads and into my own little world.
Having the mrs tag along whilst on a bike is like me following her to Dotty P's to buy the latest eye shadow because it interests me or some shite like that. ____________________ Suzuki VL Intruder 125cc - September 2004 to July 2005

I'd love my wife to get the biking bug, and since we went to Greece at Easter and she was too apprehensive to ride a moped I think she's a bit disappointed with herself. I'm gently encouraging her when I can to think about getting a moped and doing a CBT, though she doesn't need one to validate her licence as she passed her car test before me. I'd like to see her on a bike for a number of reasons; fun together, appreciate what a pleasure it is, get to work (as they've just rebuilt her college and offer no parking or buses), and as we have two kids we really need two bikes to fully enjoy it as a family ____________________ My claim to fame: Austin Vince nicked my pen... |

The only other downside to it all is, she would be riding my Aprilia RS125 as her first bike and it would most likely be on my insurence as she is a student.
So lets look at this again..... My Bike, My NCB, 2 bikes to maintain and Fill with Fuel / 2 Stroke Oil.
Why am I even considering this deluded action! ____________________ Suzuki VL Intruder 125cc - September 2004 to July 2005

Vee,
I will have to lay down some ground rules for this "Bonding".............
1) NO BONDING MY BIKE WITH TARMAC OR OTHER VEHICLES ETC ETC
I am actually quite looking forward to having a mrs who rides bikes, could be interesting and allow me to spend more time out on the open road. ____________________ Suzuki VL Intruder 125cc - September 2004 to July 2005

First of all what is all this "so the girlfriend/wife will allow me out on the bike a bit longer"... Grow some balls, you let your woman tell you that you cant go for a ride?
I say you should encourage her, let her see how much better biking is when you are in control ( i hate riding pilion), Support her, go for gentle rides with her while shes learning, and if she insists let her come on one of your blasts with the lads, she wont be able to keep up, will not enjoy it, and most likely wont want to go riding with your mates, so if you wanna go a bit crazy you still have that, and you can go touring or for n ice gentle rides with the missus...
My girlfriend says she wants to learn to ride, weather that is just because she thinks i want to hear that ( i do go on alot about bikes lol... bless her ), if she was serious i would help her get her CBT and ride around behind her and try and keep her as safe as poss while shes learning... I do think its just idle talk though |

Look at the up side, no more will you get, can take me to the shops as she will be able to go on her own, which then gives you even more free time to be out with the lads
How often does she ride out with you now ? at least on her own bike she will not slow you down with you being 2 up and having that worry about the pillion.
You can hoon off and await her catching you up wile you sup your coffee
She may even find a load of lasses who will be more interested in their own days out... Even more free time. ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

DonUK,
I have lost all right to tell her what I am doing when I choose to do somthing after.............. Well lets just say she caught me in a compromising position with my mate who I go to the football with.
(FOR THE RECORD THE "MATE" I GO TO FOOTBALL WITH IS FEMALE )
I think its can only be all good, I hope she does it because I know how exciting it is getting your first bike and learning the ropes.
Not to mention how sexy a women in leather is! ____________________ Suzuki VL Intruder 125cc - September 2004 to July 2005

If she learns to ride because she wants to ride a bike, she will find her own style of riding and will choose who to ride with.
I'm pretty particular who I go out with, Jon and Shaun being two of the people I trust and can enjoy myself with as I don't have to worry about either of their antics. Both are smooth riders who ride quick enough for me to enjoy myself but never leave me behind. ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!

Thanks to everyone who has replied.
I have no issues with her riding with me to be honest, I would only ever ride at her pace if I was out with her.
A lot of my mates let me take the lead when I first passed my CBT and was learning to ride so I could ride at my own pace and not have to worry about keeping up, then I got a lot more confident passed my DAS and we all ride demons now!
I think I would ride behind her allowing her to tootle at he own pace...........
Unbenowned to her I am tootling along also on my back wheel!
Whooo Hooooo.
Also is there any women biker clubs? as I know she would like to meet other women bikers. (She has already mentioned joining some form of womens bike club if one exists) ____________________ Suzuki VL Intruder 125cc - September 2004 to July 2005
