Hi folks,

I've just this afternoon finished putting the radiator and exhaust on my bike, and I filled it with coolant and oil, after it's sat for 7 months in pieces - engine out, fluids drained, carbs in a plastic bag, the lot.

I prepared myself for this monstrous disheartening session of listening to the starter motor doing fuck all.

I pressed the starter button, and it fired absolutely instantaneously... Like, within 0.1 seconds... It must have fired on the first stroke and then it burst into life and ran!

I couldn't believe it... Bearing in mind this is a 660cc single cylinder motor, carbed, that's been sat for 7 months.

This may or may not have helped but I filled the bike with coolant fresh from my kettle about 10 minutes prior, so perhaps the hot water helped things along...

Anyhow, I'll post a pic of a rather swanky looking, powdercoated SZR660 once I get the fairing on!

Nice when that happens. Took 4 seconds of cranking to star my bike after a 14 months and a total engine rebuild and new fuelling system.

Storing them in a cool place out of sunlight helps.

Took 3 weeks and a bike shop to get my bandit started after the full rebuild!

Look forward to pics.
