Anyone here used E-Bike pay-as-you-go insurance ?
My dads looking to insure his bike for 6 months (as he doesn't ride in Winter) Looks ok on paper. Don't really want to recommend it without any feedback. Cheers

I haven't used it i'm afriad. I wonder where you stand with NCB, would you have to take out 2 6 month policies to get the full year?

Ebike are a bunch of scamming cunts
If you want a peice of paper saying your insured, great
If you acctually want insurance cover, they're about as useful as cheese brakepads Thumbs Up

I've been on e-Bike pay as you go for nearly 2 years now.

I've claimed twice, and never had a problem. Both claims settled reasonably quickly and without too much hassle.

They will give a "no-claims" discount after 8 consecutive months, which is pretty useful.

If you have pay-as-you-go with Ebike you get a years NCB with every 8 months you are actually covered. Of course it costs more per month for pay-as-you-go than with a years cover. (Got beaten to it by above post Razz )

I've been insured with Ebike for the past couple of years now and find them pretty good. I like the way I can simply update my details online with a moments notice, and that breakdown is included. I've also had one accident in that time and have no complaints with how that was dealt with, Direct Line (3rd party insurers) were the ones who dragged their feet and took me over a year to get my claim paid out! Thanks for the info. He's thinking about selling his Blackbird and buying a Mazda MX5 Rolling Eyes (he's 64 now and knees starting to give him grief) - I'm doing my best to help him reduce costs as It'd be a reet shame if he stopped biking. I've already suggested changing bikes to something more upright with lower pegs of even getting a kit that lowers the pegs a bit.

Not anymore it isn't. Legal fees are still though.

I used the scheme for 8 months to insure the NSR. Worked out as expensive as a full year would have, but got 1NCB in that time anyway. No claims, so I can't comment on that side of things.

So far the best he's been quoted for full year (through various insurance brokers) is about £250 with £500 excess 4 decades no claims.. guess they must hike up the insurance over a certain age. With E-Bike, a full year of pay-as-you-go comes out at £182 Thumbs Up bargain

Im with eBike on their Pay as you Go policy bit.

The only real bonus for me is that i can get a years no claims every 8 months. Which is quite good realy. In 3 years you have earnt up an extra years claims Very Happy

Its easy to do, assuming you can use a computer. The only problem is, everything you want to change has to be done yourself on a computer, their helpline realy only deals with the computer system side of things and they tell you how to use their website.

I did have problems with their payment site, WorldPay. I had an unfortunate event which left me with a new bank account number, and found it impossible to change these details in the world pay site, and the end result was my insurance being cancelled due to non payment. Which meant i had to set it all up again.

Apart from that its pretty good, and you get a nice document wallet through the post with all your details in, and every now and again a free sticker or two!

I'll dig the email they sent to me recently about renewal out, clearly stating they no longer offer breakdown recovery to "keep premiums low."

Maybe they lied or maybe they haven't updated their website?

i found the pay monthly quote (when multiplied by 12 months) to be about double what the yearly quote was for some reason.
in theory its a good idea but i found it an expensive way of doing things. Would have been cheaper for me to buy a 12 month policy and cancel it after 6 months.

i second that, you get some payout back and you pay less for a year that 12 months of pay as you go so it works out much cheaper

I used them for my bike and car and had a claim on the car(for the 3rd party) and they did it all without much contact from me so thy are good at dealing with claims in my experiance.

They are getting a little expensive now though.

Thanks for all the info, I'm fine doing it all online (being a techy) but my dads another story. I'm round there every other week getting his Broadband back up or re-setting his email password Evil or Very Mad
I can almost guarantee I'll get all these quotes for him and he'll just go back to his original insurer and renew with them because it's less hastle Rolling Eyes
