I think I've found another scam.

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2004-YAMAHA-R1-Showroom-condition_W0QQitemZ290115900982QQihZ019QQcategoryZ9809QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Price is way too low, the pictures are from the U.S. (background vehicles are left hand drive and have white rear plates) and the bike has front orange reflectors (again a U.S. give away).

I've contacted the bidder and warned him, so I'll have to wait for a reply.

What do you guys think? Did I do the right thing??

Previously registered overseas : Yes

May explain it?

The text doesn't sound like your average Nigerian scammer (doesn;t mean there isn't something else going on though).

Doesn't look too bad to me.

And don't be ridiculous re: price. People start auctions for stuff at 99p, doesn't mean they'll sell for anywhere near that.

It's a shit description, and I'm definitely not saying it's not a scam.
If anyone was actually interested then they can email the guy and go view it. If he comes up with some excuse then fine, it's hooky.

Granted those reflectors at the front aren't a good sign, but other than that, seems okish.

The plate in the US doesn't stay with the vehicle you have to renew it yearly.

And the pics are from the usa tell by the houses etc

Best to pm him, may be a service man living in the UK and thats the only pics he has of his bike.

Without any real info from the seller just where you could look at the bike its a close call.
A new seller too, Like only joined today..... so the lack of description could just be beginers bad luck.
Or its a scam.

As I was a bidder on the Busa (£00.06 I got a mail from ebay.

Dear *********************
We're writing to let you know that eBay has ended the following item you were bidding on due to issues relating to the seller's account:

Item Number - 280114568345

Item Title - 2004 Suzuki : Hayabusa

For privacy reasons we can't tell you exactly why we ended the seller's listings.

As eBay removed the item, you are no longer obliged to send payment for it. Please don't send money or respond to any emails from the seller.

If someone asks you to continue with the purchase outside of the eBay platform, we strongly recommend you ignore the request. Purchases made outside of eBay aren't covered by eBay services such as feedback and the eBay Standard Purchase Protection Programme.

If you have already paid for the item, we suggest you take steps to stop your payment if possible. If you sent a cheque or your credit/debit card information, contact your bank. Please note that if you paid for this item using cash, Moneygram or Western Union transfer, your purchase won't be covered by the eBay Standard Purchase Programme. In this case, we recommend that you contact your local police as soon as possible. Retain any emails you exchanged with the seller as the police may need them in order to investigate further. eBay will gladly help the police with their investigations if needed.

If you've sent payment but haven't received the item, please wait a reasonable period of time for delivery. If you don't receive the item, please contact us again by clicking "Contact Us" on any eBay Help page and selecting the following contact options:
Buying and Finding > Problems with a seller or purchase > You paid for an item but never received it

For additional information about buying and selling safely on eBay, please visit our Safety Centre by copying the following link into a new browser window:

As always, our goal is to keep eBay a safe and reputable place to buy and sell. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

I was robbed, my 6p was a genuine bid.

Hi, May I have your address to see the bike?

Hi again,

The bike is with me in Germany. In order to make this happen I will need your full name and shipping address so I can start a transaction case on eBay.They will send us more details in how to perform this deal.About the shipping, the bike will be send to you by truck with full insurance against damages. It usually takes about 2-3 days depending on your location. After that you'll have a 3 day trial to inspect it and convince yourself that everything that I told you is true.I also want you to know that once we make this deal through eBay we're fully protected up to US $20.000.I really want to complete this deal with you so please send me those infos otherwise I will have to look for another potential buyer, as you know I'm in a hurry.
Respectfully,

So is this the point I back out or give him a fake address to see what hes up to, Im intrested to know what hes got planned!

You will just keep getting fobbed off and asked again for your address (which he doesn't really care about) and the money off you. Scam-baiting is time-consuming, and ultimately slightly disappointing unless you're a pro at it.

Worrying to see that the scammers are wising up (slightly) and are using some language that is more convincing ie. 'treated like a baby' etc. Also going on about going through eBay to protect you, when it won't be through eBay at all - but it sounds good to the gullible.

Basically, anyone that wants you to blindly give them money, when you haven't even seen the bike in the flesh, is gonna be a scammer.

People still must be falling for this, otherwise it wouldn't be so common. Sad
